"Tsk, tsk.Lianna is so ruthless…”

When John walked past the entrance of the evaluation department, he could hear the employees

gossiping in the hallway.

He just raised his eyebrows and walked to the elevator as if nothing had happened. He was headed to

an executive meeting.

Meanwhile, in Lianna's office.

"Sophia, is this the best you can do for this case?" Lianna asked with a disappointed tone.

Lianna sneered as she threw Sophia's evaluation report across the table as if it didn't matter.

"Go get your salary from the finance department. You are fired! "

"Ms.Parson, please let me know what I did wrong..." Sophia pleaded.

Suddenly, Lianna's expression went from meaningful to sharp.

It seemed that Lianna's dissatisfaction was on purpose. It reminded Sophia of Lianna's conversation

with Patrick that day.

Could it be that Lianna had also discovered that she eavesdropped that day? She couldn't risk a blind

guess and had to probe.

"If it's for any other reasons, please give me at least a reasonable explanation."

"There isn't any other reason!" Lianna directly answered.

Sophia remained motionless.

With a sneer, Lianna said, "Do you want me to go find someone to drag you out?"

Sophia, despite her gentle and forgiving nature, also had a temper.

"No need, my legs are in good shape.I am capable of walking on my own."

Her heavy footsteps could be heard as she slammed the door behind her.

Sophia felt resentful, but she knew there was nothing she could do to change the situation.

Lianna had the right to fire someone.

Even if Patrick were to disagree, nothing would be altered, not to mention that the person Lianna

wanted to dismiss was Sophia.

How could rich people like them understand what it was like to be a poor person who needed to earn a

living? While the evaluation department was packing up, everyone couldn't help but rush to her side

and offer her a hug.

"Sophia, please don't hesitate to call us if you need anything in the future.Whether we can help or not,

at least we're trying."

"Yes, yes.Besides, there is plenty of work. Why hang yourself here?"

Sophia smiled; what her colleagues said made sense.

Once she had finished packing, she said her goodbyes to everyone and walked out with the box in her

hands. She had no idea how Samuel would react if he found out about what had happened.

Samuel seemed to oppose her going back to the original company because she messed up this

case.So she had to think of another way to find new jobs.

After packing her things and taking the elevator, Sophia comforted herself. It felt good to put an end to

it.

At the very least, she wouldn't have to deal with it any longer.

After losing a high-paying job, she could still find additional part-time jobs to earn a living.

As she stepped out of the elevator, she adjusted the heavy box in front of her chest and looked up.She

was surprised to see Patrick.

He seemed to have just arrived at work.

The smooth lines of his clothes defined his tall and straight body like a model.

As he walked, a gentle breeze blew at the corner of his suit, adding to his elegance.

They didn't even bother to look at each other as they passed as if they had agreed on the same thing,

that they were strangers

"Just remember that if you ever run into this man again, he will just be a random stranger" Sophia said

to herself.

After the executive meeting, John followed behind Patrick and reported the progress of the

investigation in the past two days.

"I hired a local network expert to help me recover the data that had been lost that night.I discovered

that the IP address indicated Australia."

"Australia?" Patrick stopped in his tracks.

John also slowed his pace.

"Yes, could it be that Sophia has offended someone in that place and is plotting this to get revenge on

her?"

Patrick didn't say anything and kept walking.

"Although we didn't find any evidence to prove that it was Sophia who did it, we still can not be sure

that she is indeed innocent.Mr.Evans, do you think we should keep an eye on her?"

While speaking, John observed Patrick's expression. But Patrick's face remained unchanged; it was still

as cold as ice.

"Don't tell anyone until we find evidence. Also, you must deal with this matter as quickly as possible.I

don't want to hear your question.I want to see the result before the situation gets out of hand”

"Got it, Mr.Evans."

The two took the special elevator back to the president's office, one after the other.

Patrick loosened his tie and pondered for a moment before saying, "Ask Sophia to come up"

"Sophia? Liana had already fired her." John notified Patrick of the news that he had just received.

"When did it happen? Why didn't anyone tell me?"

"I thought you said before the meeting this morning that the evaluation department was decentralized

and allowed Lianna to make her own decisions?"

There was a hint of mockery in John's words.

Patrick was completely speechless. He did say it, after all.

It seemed that the consequences of his words had backfired on him.

Patrick walked over to the chair and sat down.He didn't mind that John was teasing him.

"Call Samuel Myers and ask him to come to Evans Company"

"Alright, got it" John turned around and left.

After John had left, Patrick sat on his chair, pondering deeply. It was the weekend, the day after she lost

her job.

Sophia didn't dare sleep in and woke up early to look for a job.She didn't have time to be depressed

about losing her job, let alone reminisce about the days when she used to work so hard. She needed to

keep earning money.

After all, she still had a family to take care of.

Otherwise, no one would share her burden.

Maria woke up very early and brought breakfast to the dining table.

"Sweetheart, come over and eat breakfast before going out."

"Okay!" Sophia sat down and took a sip of milk.

Maria, on the other hand, asked her, "How are things with Finn these days?"

"We're still trying to figure each other out” Sophia responded.

Maria followed Sophia and sat down, earnestly saying, "Well, the blind date your Aunt Kate set up for

you is a nice man.He has a decent job. He's attractive, modest, and has a good manner. You have to

seize the opportunity, you know?"

"Yes, I know.Mom, I am full!" Sophia said.

Sophia then grabbed her bag and left the house in a hurry.

Over the weekend, the atmosphere of Valentine's Day grew stronger on the streets.

It seemed that everyone who passed by her seemed to be with someone, making her look even more

lonely.

While she was lost in her thoughts, her phone rang. She immediately checked it and saw it was Finn.

"I saw you out on the street" Finn said over the phone.

Finn's voice could be heard on the other end of the line.

Sophia took a few steps back and looked around.

"Where are you?"

"The restaurant right next to you" Finn replied.

Sophia turned around and saw Finn waving at her from the window of the nearby restaurant. She

responded with a gentle smile.

"I was going to have lunch alone but didn't expect to run into you.If we eat together, I won't feel lonely

anymore."

Finn's company was just a few blocks down this road.

He was the type of person who demanded a high standard of living and frequently chose this

restaurant for lunch.

The two of them sat at the table next to the French.

During their conversation, Sophia overheard a familiar voice coming from the table just a few steps

away.

She turned her head unconsciously only to meet a man's piercing gaze. She had to avert her eyes in a

panic.

"Why? You know someone?"

Finn, too, looked in that direction. It turned out that the voice belonged to Patrick.

"It's Mr.Evans.Do you want to go over and say hello? After all, you are subordinates" Finn asked very

thoughtfully.

Sophia grimaced, "I don't think so.He probably doesn't know someone like me"

About half an hour later, the conversation from the nearby table came to an end.

When she passed by their table, she intentionally lowered her head to avoid being recognized.

The smell of tobacco drifted through the air, a scent that Sophia was once familiar with five years ago.

She pretended not to care and continued to breathe normally, but the memories still caused her pain.
