“If you’re not mute, then why didn’t you tell me about it? Why do you always use your phone when you’r
e talking to me?” Deirdre frowned and bombarded him with many questions. “What are you scared of?”
Kyran looked at her and placed his finger on his neck. He had prepared
in advance for a situation like this. There was a thing that looked like a button on his neck.
“Listen to me, Deirdre. I’ve never told you before that I’m born mute.” Kyran looked at her alluringly. “My
vocal cords were damaged because of an illness, so I couldn’t speak. I’ve been treating them, but the r
esults aren’t satisfactory. So I never told you about it. I planned to tell you about it when I recovered, bu
t then something happened to you.”
Deirdre closed her eyes and asked, “But you were still using your phone to talk to me when you met m
e…”
“Do you still remember how much you resisted my company back then?” Kyran smiled bitterly. “You tho
ught I was someone else and that I was lying to you, so how should I open my mouth and tell you abou
t my condition? If I had opened my mouth and spoken, I would have
only made you even more suspicious of me. After all, it’s hard to explain something like this.
“In the end, I decided to talk to you through my phone. Then I planned to tell you that my vocal cords h
ad recovered when the time was right.”
