She snapped back to reality, remembering she was Lucian’s fiancée. If she got knocked up from fooling
around and Lucian found out, she’d be in deep shit.
The guy next to her chuckled at her reaction, shrugging off her plea.
Realizing what he had done, Penelope’s eyes widened in shock, “You…you…”
“What’s the big deal? What’s wrong with having my kid? Lucian’s got plenty of women around him. He
seems to be quite taken with the maid who replaced you. They’ve probably had a few rolls in the hay
and who knows, maybe she’s already got a bun in the oven. You having my kid and going back to
Lucian doesn’t sound too bad. Then the Lindberg family will have to answer to us.”
Penelope had never seen it this way before.
But Pete brought up a point. If Lucian was indeed smitten by Allison and found out that she was the
woman from the hotel, she’d be
screwed.
No way!
“Pete, did you just say Lucian has a thing for Allison?”
*Correct. He even scolded Kamilla today for her. Usually, Kamilla is his favorite. That maid has some
serious charm; she managed to bewitch the cold Lucian in just a few days.”
Penelope gritted her teeth, recalling how Kamilla treated her during the dinner with the Flanagan family.
Back then, Lucian merely brushed it off.
She clenched her fists, trying to convince herself, “Lucian is only nice to her because he thinks Allison
is me!”
But deep inside, she was terrified.
Allison had to leave. She had to leave Northfield!
She had to come up with a plan. “Pete, help me…”
It was Monday morning, Allison rushed to class and was panting heavily. Lucian was already at the
podium.
He glanced at his watch, not even sparing her a look, and said coldly, “Seven minutes late, Allison,
You’ve skipped Finance class 6
times this semester.”
“Mr. Lindberg, I’m sorry, I…” Allison didn’t expect Lucian to be this strict.
“Go stand outside!” The man adjusted his glasses, ignored her, and went back to his lecture.
Allison stood still for a few seconds, then bit her lip and went to stand in the hallway.
She had been too greedy, basking in his tenderness these past days, thinking that incident would
naturally fade away. But she forgot that all his tenderness these past days was for “Penelope“.
Her phone vibrated a few times. It was Daisy, texting to console her.
After class, Lucian went to the door and sneered, “Six absences. Don’t expect any credits for this
course.”
No way!
Allison panicked at his words.
A while ago, her mother, Grace, had been seriously ill. Allison had to skip class multiple times to take
care of her. If she didn’t get the credits for this course, she would have to delay graduation.
Her mom’s illness was expensive, and the kidney transplant surgery cost a fortune. She needed to start
working and earning money
ASAP
Allison watched Lucian’s retreating figure, gritted her teeth, and quickly chased after him.
“Mr. Lindberg, Mr. Lindberg!”
She jogged to Lucian’s office, catching her breath, “Mr. Lindberg, I promise, I’ll get to class on time from
now on.”
It was just her and Lucian in the office.
Having just jogged over, Allison’s eyes were moist and shiny, her cheeks were rosy, and her lips were
slightly parted as she panted.
Lucian’s gaze darkened slightly. He felt that she was using her seemingly innocent and pitiful
appearance to deceive others. He had seen all sorts of women, but he was almost fooled by a woman
like this.
