How could Lucian possibly like her? He couldn’t even hide his distaste for her.
As the car sped along the road, Nicholas glanced at the rearview mirror at the silent woman’s face.
“Allison, it’s strange, but feel a sense of familiarity with you. Penelope said earlier you’re a scheming
woman, but in my eyes, you’re an innocent and kind girl. It feels like we’ve met before, maybe in a past
life, I was your brother.”
Allison bit her lip. Her eyes felt moist and sour. She wasn’t sure if this man was Ricky, but all the
coincidences were too similar. She preferred to deceive herself.
“So, how about you treat me like your little sister? Let me… call you brother a few times. I understand,
I’m just a girl from an ordinary family, and you’re from a wealthy and prominent one. I’m not greedy, and
calling you brother a few times won’t cost you anything.”
Nicholas paused for a moment, then a smile appeared on his face half a minute later. “Sure, I suddenly
gained a beautiful and gentle little sister. It’s my luck.”
Hearing Nicholas’ words, the pain in Allison’s heart these past few days seemed to have disappeared.
She wouldn’t leave Northfield; she would stay here. Penelope and Leah couldn’t think of driving her
away, and they couldn’t threaten her
anymore.
She was going to stay here to find out if Nicholas was really her brother.
