Lucy had no time to think about where she had seen that red BMW before. She gunned the accelerator
and drove 1.5 times faster than she had been driving.
After being married to him for three years, she was well aware of his temper— He set the rules and
never left anyone any room for negotiation!
It was 10.30 p.m. and there weren't many cars on the road, but Lucy's speeding scared quite a few
drivers...
"F*ck, what's the rush?!"
"Does she want to f*cking die?!"
"Do you even know how to drive? Don't you know it's very dangerous?"
Lucy usually hated people who sped on the road, but circumstances really forced her to speed that day.
She could only shout out the window, "Urgent business, sorry!"
She was driving too fast and the wind was too strong, so she didn't even know if the drivers could hear
her.
Lizbeth, who was tailing Lucy, didn't know what was going on as she saw Lucy driving at the speed of
light.
"Could she have noticed me?" She muttered to herself and immediately sped up.
However, Lucy was going way too fast. She simply couldn't keep up!
"She must have noticed me and was afraid that I would discover her secret!" Lizbeth looked at the Audi
that was getting farther and farther away and punched the steering wheel hard.
She was sure that Lucy had ulterior motives for approaching Arthur!
If it wasn't because of guilt, why would Lucy get away so fast?
...
Someone had called the police, and Lucy was stopped when she almost reached Llindbarry Chateau.
"Officer, let me meet someone first, then I'll go with you. Is that okay?" Lucy got out of her car, but when
she saw the head officer, she knew she had a problem.
The last time she was suspected of 'attempted murder', it had been the same policeman who had
arrested her!
The policeman kept quiet and handcuffed her, then shoved her into the police car. "No!"
"Officer, it really was an accident..."
"The last time you drove recklessly, you said it was an accident. Now that you're caught speeding late
at night, you still say that it was an accident. Why do so many accidents happen to you?"
Even though Lucy was good with words, she had nothing to say right then.
If she were a policewoman, she would not believe in the same excuse either!
Lucy once again regretted what she had done that time!
The policeman made her do a breathalyzer test, and after confirming that she hadn't drunk any alcohol
and her emotions were stable, he uncuffed her.
"Thank you!" Lucy exercised her wrists and looked at the time. She was so anxious. Fifteen minutes
had long since gone by. How was she going to explain herself to Arthur?
The policeman looked at her. "You regret it now?"
"I regretted it the moment I started speeding." Lucy was very humble, hoping to receive a light
punishment. The best case scenario was that she could leave at once after paying a fine!
The policeman didn't buy it at all. "People like you who drive luxury cars always say you're sorry when
we catch you, but you'll do it again!"
"Officer, it's really my..." It was her first time!
She was interrupted before she could finish. "Don't try to talk your way out of it. We've reached the
station, hurry up and get off!"
Lucy let out a long sigh and followed the policeman. When she heard the other policemen say, "Isn't
she the pretty lady from last time?" and "Isn't she that hottie who drove recklessly?", she wished she
could disappear.
In the past five years, she had made herself a successful woman entrepreneur. No matter how hard
and tiring the journey had been, there had never been a moment she had felt so awkward and
embarrassed!
Ring—
Ring—
In front of the police station, Lucy's phone rang. "Officer, may I answer the phone?"
"Yes, but only after we go inside!"
She was not a criminal, so she was free to answer a phone call.
Lucy looked at the caller ID and answered the call with mixed feelings.
Before she could speak, he roared angrily, "Lucy, you're getting more daring!"
"I can explain." Lucy felt as though bad luck clung to her from the day she had met Arthur again. "I've
been taken to the police station, now... Beep, beep, beep!"
Hearing the dial tone, she lowered her phone nervously.
Had Arthur hung up because he had run out of patience?
Lucy sat down and answered whatever questions the policeman asked her and filled in anything he
asked her to. She was about to blow.
If the Pate Group went bankrupt because of her, how would she face Maddox again? How would she
make up for it?
She was going crazy!
"Mr. Johnson, what brings you here?" Right then, one of the policemen hollered.
Lucy turned around and was stunned when she saw Arthur.
He was dressed casually, and his hair that was usually neatly styled was slightly messy. He was
panting hard when he came inside. He had obviously rushed there.
"To look for someone!" Arthur replied. With a look of anger in his eyes, he rushed to Lucy.
He looked too frightening like that, as though he would shoot someone down in the next second. She
stood up and took a few steps backward until she hit a table, forcing her to stop.
Arthur had no time to think about what her reaction meant. He clutched her shoulders hard and
combed her up and down with his gaze, not missing out any detail.
He only let his worry slip away once he made sure that she was okay. His back was drenched in cold
sweat.
They were way too close to one another, and Lucy felt uncomfortable. However, he looked so scary
that she didn't dare to push him away.
"How dare you speed on the road! What a great job!" Arthur was staring daggers at her.
When he had heard that she was at a police station, his heart had almost jumped out of his chest.
Lucy frowned slightly. If he hadn't demanded her to reach in fifteen minutes, how would she have
sped?
However, he had always been unreasonable, and she did not intend to explain herself either.
It was already midnight by the time she had paid the fine and gotten lectured.
"Where's your car?" Arthur asked stormily once he was out of the police station.
On the way there, he had driven so fast that the Bentley had crashed into a tree. It couldn't be driven
anymore!
Lucy was a bit confused as to why he didn't want to drive his own car, but she pointed to hers
obediently. Then, she opened the door and got into the driver's seat.
She was in no position to object since she had asked him for help to get out of trouble. She could only
let him have his way compliantly... Although he was the one who had caused her the trouble.
"Get in the passenger seat!" Arthur chased her to the other side.
Lucy moved to the passenger seat and fastened her seatbelt. Suddenly, she caught the scent of blood.
She sniffed and slowly turned her gaze on Arthur...
His leg was bleeding.
Her eyes dimmed, but she didn't intend to be nosy.
However, after fifteen minutes on the road, the smell of blood became stronger. She couldn't help but
say, "Your leg is bleeding so much that the blood is staining the car."
She thought it was best to get his wound bandaged since he was bleeding so heavily.
"I can still afford to compensate you for a sh*tty car like this!" Arthur gripped the steering wheel harder
as his heart ached. How much did she hate him that she was worried his blood would dirty her car?
Since being caring only got her a mean retort in return, Lucy pursed her lips and looked out the
window.
How on earth had she fallen in love with such a bossy and unreasonable person back then?
