Amanda slumped to the carpet in despair. She kept knocking on the door as she cried, but there was
no response from the outside.
Aiden was having a fever while Yacob got caught. Besides, it had almost been a month, but Elias
hadn’t woken up.
How did things turn out this way? She felt despair enveloping her and as if there was no escape.
Meanwhile, Symeon immediately summoned the family doctor to treat Aiden.
After giving the child a checkup, the doctor injected the boy and concluded, “He needs to rest well and
drink plenty of hot water. I gave him an injection to reduce his fever. All he needs is a good rest. He
should be fine if his fever reduces after a night. He can only have light meals at the moment.”
“Noted.”
After the doctor left, Symeon sat on the bed. He looked down at the sleeping boy, whose cheeks
flushed from the fever.
Symeon picked up a cooling patch and put it on Aiden’s forehead.
Aiden mumbled in his sleep, “Daddy… Daddy..
“I’m here.” Symeon held the boy’s small hand, but deep down he knew that the boy wasn’t calling out to
him but to Elias.
To Aiden. Elias was his only father.
A while later, Aiden started calling out in his sleep again. “Mommy, Mommy, where are you?”
Symeon’s face darkened when he heard Aiden calling for Amanda. He became angry at the thought of
Amanda. It turns out her meekness and obedience are just an act.
He decided that from that day on, he would prohibit Amanda from meeting Aiden again. After all, they
were bound to separate. Therefore, it was better to break off the tie between the mother and the child
once and for all.
Dawn broke.
Amanda hadn’t slept all night. She curled up in the corner, hugging her legs close to her
chest. She buried her face between her knees.
Suddenly, the sound of the door opening startled her. Her head snapped to the door, only to find
Symeon pushing the door open and walking in.
She surged to her feet with nervousness written all over her face. She asked, “How is Aiden? Is he
feeling better?”
He sneered at the flustered look on her face. “It’s a surprise to know you care about him. To think you
didn’t get him a doctor when he was having a fever. You even thought about escaping with him in that
state. You’re a failed mother.”
I asked you a question! How is Aiden doing? Answer me!” Amanda screamed at him as tears streamed
down her face. Her heart ached at the thought of how the fever upset Aiden Last night.
Symeon smiled. The fever has gone down. All he needs is a good rest.”
Upon hearing this answer, Amanda slacked her shoulders in relief.
Thank goodness. Aiden is fine. Otherwise, I’ll never forgive myself.
Symeon looked at her red eyes. It seems like she cried all night.
He teased, “Were you crying last night? I wonder whether it was out of regret or it was because your
plan failed.”
Amanda didn’t answer him. She moved to sit on the bed and looked at the morning sky outside the
window.
Since she already got on his bad side, she no longer bothered to hide her true self as she ignored him.
But Symeon walked up to her and grabbed her chin, forcing her to look at him. “Do you think you can
get away by staying silent? We interrogated the person we caught last night, but he didn’t say anything
at all. He’s really stubborn. I just want to know who sent him. It couldn’t be Elias, right?”
Since it was a critical situation, Amanda knew better than to drag Elias into this matter.
Therefore, she denied, “Of course not! I’ve fallen out with Elias. He wouldn’t come to save me.”
“Then, who else could it be? You’re a charming woman, aren’t you? Men are willing to play the white
knights for you,” Symeon mocked.
She snorted but didn’t say anything.
“I’ll have you know that you’re not allowed to see Aiden starting today. From now on, he has nothing to
do with you.”
As soon as he finished the words, Amanda jumped out of bed and angrily shouted at him. “You don’t
get to decide this! Aiden is my son! He has everything to do with me! Who do you think you are? Are
you that desperate to raise somebody else’s child? How about taking some paternity tests to find out
whether he is yours? Moreover, finding out Melissa’s motives behind everything. If she doesn’t have a
grudge against you, then she must hate your guts, which is why she wants you to suffer such kind of
punishment.”
Why would Melissa do this? She’s being unreasonable like a woman who is out of her mind.
“Amanda, you’ve said those same words countless times. Hearing them tires me out. But no matter
what you say, you aren’t seeing the child.” Symeon didn’t take her words to his heart. He turned on his
heel to leave.
Amanda grabbed his arm, “Stop right there! Let Yacob go and give me back Aiden! Mark my words.
You’ll regret it. Aiden is not your son.”
“I think you’ve gone crazy. I’ll have a therapist come to treat you tomorrow. After all, you’re the woman
who gave birth to my child. I’ll be nice to you.”
At that, he turned around to look at her delicate face. For a moment, she had him in a trance. “How
great would that be if only you were being genuine over the last few days…”
It would’ve been better if she hadn’t been pretending all these days and wanted to stay by my side for
real.
Symeon sneered at the thought. “Too bad your heart is given to somebody. I’m not keeping a woman
who isn’t loyal to me.”
He pried her hand off his arm as he turned around to leave. He shut the door before her.
The gesture plunged Amanda’s world into darkness. Exhausted, she didn’t have the strength to knock
on the door and shout anymore.
I wonder how Yacob is doing. Where are they keeping him?
I can’t keep going on like this. It’s too early to give up yet. I need to find a way to save Yacob and
Aiden.
Elias is in a coma, so I’m the only person who could save everyone.
Amanda went to the window and scanned her surroundings. She was staying on the second floor, not
too high from the ground. She could climb down if she made a rope out of the bed sheets.
Not nove. It has to wait. They’ll find out my plan any second if I try to do this in broad daylight
She planned to sneak out of the room to find Aiden tonight. Then, she also needed to liet out where
Yacob was being held
Even if she and Aiden might not be able tivescape, Yacob had to return to Elias, Otherwise. she would
worry aliout Elias, who stayed alone in the country
Meanwhile, in a hospital in Cludan, the butler went to the hospital to check on Flias’ well being because
he hadn’t been able to contact Yacob for the past few days.
As soon as he arrived outside the sick room, he was stopped by the bodyguard. “You can’t go in. Mr.
Winters is resting”
“It’s me, his butler. I have something to discuss with Mr. Winters” He assumed that the bodyguard was
new, and didn’t recognize him. Therefore, he sidestepped the bodyguard as he tried to go inside the
sick room.
But once again, the bodyguard stopped him. “Sorry, but you really can’t go in there. It’s Mr. Winters’
order.”
