Two Months Later
Hope and Varys had started coming close to each other. Unknowingly a pattern, a schedule had been
set among them. Varys came to pick her up almost every day along with Hector. Hector, for some
unknown reason had not recieved his license. And because of that he had to tag along with Varys. And
as Hope did not have a car and Stella's classes started an hour earlier than her, she only had two
options left, either ride with Hector and Varys, or take the bus.
She had insisted on the second option. She did not want to become a burden on them in the name of
friendship but every time she brought up the topic, both Varys and Hector started blabbering things that
did not make any sense to her but definitely made clear that she was riding with them until she is
fucking alive.
The class had ended and now she was just waiting for Varys and Hector to meet in the parking lot. It
had been a month she had joined college and not even a day had gone by when she had not seen
Varys. More than Hector and her, a friendship had been formed between them.
On Sundays he would come to pick her up and they both would go to the nearby park to study. He was
so keen on teaching her and spoiling her when it came to other things too, like her desire to drive a
car? She did not know how to ride one. And when the conversation had come up one day when they
were having ice cream in a cafe, he had taken her on an open, empty street and had taught her how to
drive one.
By the time they had finished she had been laughing so hard because apparently cars and her were a
straight suicidal mission. She could not drive one without making a pass at the nearby pole or
innocently parked other vehicles.
"If we continued, you are going to have to buy another car." Hope clutched her stomach and heaved in
laughter upon the expressions on Varys' face.
Pure horror. That is what his face screamed.
"Hope, truth to be told," Varys came forward with his hands up high in the air, "I had thought that
nobody can be more bad at driving cars than a cartoon character but you have somehow managed to
surpass them."
She started laughing even more harder.
"Come on!" she giggled, "I am sure I will learn one day."
With a smile on his face Varys came forward and grabbed her hand. With a harsh jerk she was falling
forward on his chest as his arms slid around her waist.
Somehow he had managed to make this closeness between him and Hope a normal thing. It took a
month and surely many of Hope's resistances, but slowly she had started to accept his touch like it was
not a big thing between them.
His plan was working. He was getting closer to her slowly. He just wanted her all to himself. Not his
brother, not her friends, no one but him in her thoughts and her sight. He wanted to be the only one
who made him happy just like she made him.
"And I will be there to make sure of it." He smiled and pulled her closer to his chest.
A blush covered Hope's cheeks. His touch and his eyes, both held so many emotions that she could
not distinguish which one she loved the most. The only thing that she knew was he made her happy.
The memory broke when she heard a loud honk of someone's car. Jerking in surprise, she turned
around to look at who it was.
The handsome guy that she had seen in the grounds a month ago asking Varys to collect the award
was waving at her while coming out of his Ford Fusion.
She waved back awkwardly, still unsure of how he had remembered her from just one vague meeting
and how to greet him.
"How have you been, pretty fresher?" he gave her an award winning smile and came to stand in front
of her.
His rippling muscles were showing underneath the casual sports wear that he was pulling off so
handsomely and effortlessly. It was hard to believe that a guy like him was interested in talking to her.
"Umm.. yeah, alright.. I guess." She replied while tucking the hairs that were falling over her face
behind her ears.
"Enjoying the new environment? No one bullied you, did they?" he asked with a smile.
Seeing the genuine interest that he was portraying, she started to become more comfortable while
talking to him, "Yeah. More than I had expected honestly."
"Want to come to an ears splitting, drag boring party with me tonight?" he extended his hand gently
caressed her cheek while pushing back a few tendrils of her hair behind her ear with his rough fingers.
Surprised and taken a back by the offer from him and not having enough courage to refuse someone
like him, she nodded her head in acceptance while hitting herself in her head for being such a coward.
Suddenly she had started to feel like someone was watching her and her heart started to pound. As the
handsome guy walked away while saying something about already having her number from Hector, her
eyes collided with a set of angry ones.
"Varys." she smiled softly.
Instead of answering her, he grabbed her hand and pulled her towards the back side of the parking lot
that stayed empty almost all the time.
Trapping her between himself and the car, he slid his arm in her waist and asked in a deadly calm
voice,
"Why was that asshole touching you, Hope?"
Clueless to the anger that was simmering underneath his gaze, she replied nonchalantly,
"Nothing. He was just asking for me to accompany him to a party tonight."
His attitude instantly changed. The aura around him turned into something more dangerous. So intense
and heavy that she could feel it in her bones that she had said something that she should not have.
