Professor Bowes shook his head. “According to the data analysis, the structure of a substance in the
potion is quite similar to that of an unknown substance we tested before.”
“Continue your research then,” Lucas said coldly. “Start with the molecular formula.”
“You make it sound so easy!” Professor Bowes picked up the cup and took a sip of the thick coffee. His
mustache moved as he spoke. “In order to analyze the two substances before, the entire research and
development team spent three whole years. Hundreds of people went through thousands of extraction
experiments. How can we get the data so easily as you said? You should put yourself in our shoes.”
Lucas looked up at him, saying, “Tell me, how much money do you want this time?”
Every time Professor Bowes complained about how many difficulties he was facing in his research, he
was about to ask for a huge amount of money.
“Well, you know that this kind of test cost a lot. Without money, we can’t get any data. As for the
research and development fee… the more, the better.” Professor Bowes chuckled and stretched out a
finger. “How about you give us 10 million dollars first?”
Lucas glanced at him and then took out his phone to call the bank. “It’s me. Help me transfer 20 million
dollars. Yes, to the same account as the last time.”
Hearing that, Professor Bowes was super pumped.
However, there was a trace of regret amidst his excitement.
If he had known that Lucas would agree so easily, he would have asked more earlier.
Lucas casually spun the phone on the table. “I’ll give yoù enough funds. But you’ll have to figure out
what the unknown substances are.”
Professor Bowes poured a cup of coffee for him and said, “Don’t worry. We’ll do our best.”
There were still two substances that they hadn’t had the analytical data yet.
Every time, the extraction experiment ended in failure. Having no choice, they could only use the
st*pidest method, which was to screen and compare tens of thousands of herbal medicines.
This method was also the most expensive.
Lucas glanced at him and said in a cold voice, “Report to me at any time if there’s any progress.”
“Got it.” Professor Bowes replied.
Standing on where he was, Professor Bowes watched Lucas leave, the flattering smile on his face
fading
away.
He lowered his head and stared at the box that Lucas had just given him, his eyes flickered with an
unfathomable light.
Lucas walked out of the research institute and said to his henchman, “Bring all the experts from the
blood institute here.”
Previously, they had no idea where to start, and could only conduct experiments on Rachel’s blood.
Now that they had the potion as a reference, he was certain that the experts would find out something
soon.
After a long drive, David’s car finally stopped at a dock.
The wind from the sea ruffled Rachel’s long hair. She unwittingly reached out to tuck her it behind her
ears. She looked around and asked, “What are we doing here?”
“To complete the ritual, of course,” David said as he took out a soft ribbon from his pocket. “You want
me to help you with it?”
As the ribbon fell, everything in front of her was replaced by darkness.
David held her hand and walked forward slowly.
Rachel could not see her destination, but she vaguely smelled a strong floral fragrance.
She had her speculations about where they were going.
However, when the ribbon that blocked her vision was untied and she saw the flowers all over the
mountain, her beautiful eyes widened in shock..
The roses of various colors looked especially charming and bright under the sunlight.
Set off by the roses, the dull rocky crags showed a hint of tenderness.
The road in front of Rachel was carpeted with fresh flowers.
Before the shock that lingered in her heart faded away, she was filled with joy, and it took her a long
time
to calm down.
It felt so good to receive a surprise from her beloved!
Rachel had thought that David’s proposal was finished the moment he put the ring on her finger. She
did not expect him to prepare such a big surprise for her.
“Do you like it?” David held her hand and interlocked their fingers.
Rachel turned to him, tears shimmering in her eyes. She nodded hard and said, “Yes, I like it.”
As if she thought it was not enough to express her feelings, she added, “I like it very much.”
David gently wiped the tears off the corners of her eyes. He slowly bent down and knelt on one knee.
“Dear Miss Rachel, will you marry me?”
It was a simple sentence without any fancy words, but it made Rachel’s heart thump wildly as if
someone had just given it a squeeze.
A sentence suddenly popped into her mind: “What you suffered will bring you happiness in the end.”
Rachel always complained about her bad luck, and she even suspected that she was cursed.
She had been abandoned so many times.
She had just been dumped even the day she met David.
Rachel’s beautifully, limpid eyes were full of tenderness.
Seeing them become misty with tears, David frowned, feeling a twinge in his heart. “Why are you
crying?”
He wondered, “Could it be that she doesn’t want to marry me?
“Maybe I’m not good enough for her.”
Rachel sniffled and buried her head in his neck, wrapping her arms tightly around his neck. “I thought
you wouldn’t prepare any ritual for me. It’s such a wonderful surprise!”
“You little fool!” David’s palm gently caressed her back. “I’ll give you everything the other girls have.”
Hearing that, Rachel felt like her heart was melting.
She stood on tiptoe and kissed David on the lips.
Then she quickly distanced herself from him. The kiss was like a dragonfly touching the surface of the
water, but it was full of tenderness.
“Thank you.”
She wanted to thank David for appearing in her life, caring about her so much, and giving her so many
surprises.
David grabbed her chin and said, “I told you, I don’t accept verbal thanks.”

“Then, how about I marry you?” Rachel looked at him gently, her sparkling eyes even more dazzling
than the stars in the sky.
“Deal!”
David held the back of her head and leaned over to cover her lips with his.
The gentle, sticky kiss made Rachel so moved that a crystal-clear tear rolled down from the corner of
her
eye.
When her beloved man proposed to her, she felt like she owned the entire world.
Rachel thought that was all the surprise David prepared for her until she saw a yacht covered in
flowers.
It looked so funny as if a big guy was wearing a flowery dress.
“Do you want to go up and take a look?”
Rachel nodded and took David’s hand as they walked onto the deck.
They went through the sunken resting area, bypa ssed the resting cabin, and walked straight to the
dining
area.
On the white dining table were exquisite food and gorgeous, huge candlesticks.
Rachel raised her eyebrows slightly. “Candlelight dinner?”
