guilt.
Cooper’s razor-sharp gaze looked as if it could pierce a few holes through Bruce. “As an actor, how
dare you covet your own boss? Don’t say I didn’t warn you. If you dare lay a finger on Genev, I will
break your legs myself!”
When she saw how Cooper’s disparagement of Bruce was escalating, Genevieve grabbed him and
ushered him out quickly. “He’s just here to bring me my shoes, so don’t let your imagination run wild. I
still have my presence of mind with me. There’s no way I would be interested in him. Come on, let’s
go.”
When she turned around and snuck a glance, she noticed that Bruce, too, was looking at her with
a darkened gaze.
With her heart skipping a beat, she instantly turned her head away.
When they arrived at the garden, Cooper was still suming. “Genev, you should sell Bruce to another
company.”

Cooper gave her the side-eye. “Since when are you desperate for money?”

before adding, “Furthermore, Bruce is Jojo’s idol, and it was her who signed him onto the company.”
The grim look on Cooper’s face intensified when he realized it was impossible to get rid of Bruce. “In
that case, you should stay far away from him. Do you understand?”
“Mmm-hmm.” Genevieve nodded.
A short while after both of them went their separate ways, Charlotte, who was also present at Paula’s
niece’s wedding, came up to Genevieve upon spotting her. “Genevieve, is he an actor in your
company?”
Trailing the trajectory of whcrc Charlotte was pointing, Genevicve saw Bruce standing in the corner of
the garden with his gaze lowered while lidelling with his phone.
Her lips twitched before she admitted it, “He is.”
“That’s wonderful!” Towing the reluctant Genevieve along, Charlotte approached Bruce while
murmuring to her, “When I asked Mrs. Hossler about him, she told me that he’s one of your actors and
that his name is Bruce Gable. As he doesn’t look approachable and I’m too shy to talk to him alone, I
need you to introduce me since you’re his boss.”
Upon hearing the sound of footsteps, Bruce looked up and saw the approaching ladies.
He put his phone away. “Ms. Rachford.”
When Genevieve noticed his slightly wet hair, she figured that he must have given himself a quick wash
carlier. She subsequently pointed at Charlotte, who was standing beside her.
“This is my friend, Charlotte Benson.”
“It’s a pleasure to meet you.” Charlotte took a step forward with her hand extended.
Unexpectedly, Bruce stepped back to maintain a meter’s distance from her. “I’m sorry, but I have the
flu. I’m worried that you might catch it.”
“It’s all right,” Charlotte replied with a vibrant smile as she put down her hand.
Noticing the look of admiration Charlotte was giving Bruce, Genevieve could clearly tell that the former
was interested in him and was keen on chatting him up. Hence, she made an excuse to leave so as to
give them both some privacy.
After picking up a glass of champagne from the table, Genevieve couldn’t help but look toward the
corner of the garden.
