Chapter 243: I’ve Never Broken Up With You

“The words “I am his wife” felt like a thousand needles in Joseph’s ears till his eardrums hurt, his face

paled immediately,

“What are you talking about?”

“A nominal marriage is also considered a marriage.” Hayden raised her eyebrows, boldly continuing, “In

nominal terms, we are indeed legal husband and wife.”

“Hayden.” Joseph was seething with anger, “You’re doing this on purpose.”

She was definitely saying all this to provoke him.

Hayden took a look at him and feigned ignorance, “On purpose? What I’m saying is the truth. Or else,

can you tell me what was wrong with what I just said?”

Joseph frowned, “Then what are we?”

“Us?”

Hayden crossed her arms and took a look at Joseph from top to bottom, “Is this unclear? We only have

a normal relationship just like any other exes that broke up.”

Since he was back from Shanghai, Joseph had made a change to his previously cold behaviour. He

had gotten someone to send food and flowers to Green Lemon Clothing’s workplace every day,

regardless of rain or sunshine.

Nevertheless, Hayden was not someone that accepted sugar-coated time bombs. Joseph had already

made a mistake, let alone he hadn’t even officially apologized to her. Even if he did, she hadn’t decided

whether she intended to forgive him.

Hence as of now, they are indeed just ex-es.

However, Joseph seemed as if he does not think the same way, replied seriously,

“I think you recalled wrong, I’ve never broken up with you.”

“Oh really?” Hayden looked at him seriously, “But I seem to hear that you told the police officer the

other night that we’re not in a relationship?”

After their argument and break up that night, she had made a police report in anger. When being

interrogated by the police officer, Joseph had denied their relationship. If not for his special status, he

would have already been charged with rape and remanded.

Things had passed, but she was someone that held grudges. Sulking, she said,

“A man should be held to his words, what you said was a nail in the coffin, you can’t retract it anymore.”

Joseph was rendered speechless, he clenched his fists and replied, “Magnus is getting bolder and

bolder.”

“Hey, stop blaming Magnus, he didn’t tell me anything about this.”

Hayden took a look at him, and sarcastically said, “You can’t even tell who said this, no wonder your

position got usurped, I think your brain isn’t as great as what people say.”

Joseph’s face was filled with embarrassment.

This woman, once she had gotten hold of my weakness, was she planning to use it to her advantage

forever?

Looking at a speechless Joseph, Hayden stopped provoking him,

“I have something coming up, I’ll leave first.”

Joseph quickly replied, “I’ll send you.”

“No need for that,” Hayden declined politely, smiling in a distant and polite manner, “I drove here on my

own, what’s more it’s not on the way.”

Both she and Joseph needed some time to cool down and think about whether they were indeed

suitable for each other. What’s more from the current situation, the things that she needed to consider

were definitely way more than Joseph.

The root of their arguments was all related to their kid and the secret in the past years. She needed to

clarify what happened in the past, before deciding whether she can indeed continue their relationship.

Joseph was rooted on the spot, his brows were knotted while looking at the back of Hayden who never

turned back.

He suddenly understood what Kevin had told him before he left.

Women held grudges and loved to talk about past mistakes. If she didn’t start talking about your past

mistakes, this meant that she was definitely holding on to your weaknesses, and using it to her

advantage at the right time, rendering you speechless.

This was exactly what was happening now.

What he had said at the police station in the midst of his anger was now being used by Hayden as a

trump card to reject him.

Although he was unwilling to accept this, he had inflicted this on himself, death upon himself.

...

For a week, Dante led the team of designers in rushing their work, and managed to complete the staff

uniform’s design prototype.

Before they officially tendered their bid, Green Lemon Clothing organized a project meeting.

“Joann Group’s internal assessment method this time round is 30% assessed by their senior

management, and 70% voting by their staff.”

In the meeting room, Green Lemon Clothing’s administrative manager Riley Perry gave a detailed

analysis of the current project.

“This means that the majority decision-maker is still the staff of Joann Group?”

“If the bidding is completely fair, this would be the situation.”

Riley was clear in his words.

Although the staff held 70% of the voting rights, no one can ensure that nobody would be secretly

manipulating the decision results.

To staff, their uniform wasn’t particularly important to them, but to the fashion companies who were

bidding for this project, their opinion was extremely crucial.

It cannot be ruled out that someone would be paying bribes to get the staff to vote for their company.

“Hence during this period of time, we need someone to monitor Joann Group’s internal management’s

activity. If it appears that anyone is intending to affect the voting, we need to immediately take steps to

curb this activity.”

Once Riley’s words were finished, the floor started their discussion with an uproar,

“Why do we still need to monitor? Feels like we are spies.”

“Who will be able to do this kind of things?”

“We should employ an outsider, I heard they are more professional.”

“…”

At that moment, Hayden’s phone rang. After a look at the number, she stood up to leave the room, “You

guys go ahead first, I’ll head out to pick up this call.”

After closing the meeting room door, her ears got some silence.

Hitting the answer button, a young cheerful voice sounded, “Sis, I’ve completed the investigation, I’ll be

arriving at Nanking this afternoon.”

“So quick?” Hayden was a little surprised.

In order to investigate the accident that happened to Noah when he was young, Benjamin had literally

travelled almost half of China to visit the nannies that used to work at the Beckham household. It

almost feels like finding a needle from a haystack. She had initially thought that this investigation would

only be completed nearing the New Year, but she never imagined that he would have completed it

within two months.

“Yes, I’ll let you know the complete situation when I reach, but it can be confirmed that Noah’s accident

was caused by someone, and… I’m afraid Joseph might have been aware of that.”

Hearing this, Hayden’s heart sank, and her voice was muffled,

“What time is your flight, I’ll go pick you up.”

“No need, I’ll go straight to your house.”

“Alright.”

After hanging up, Hayden was filled with mixed and complicated feelings that she couldn’t explain.

If what happened in the past was related to Joseph, she couldn’t accept letting Noah continue staying

by him.

At Beckham’s villa, When the nanny reminded Joseph to pick up Noah, Joseph took a look at the time,

closed his newspaper and got ready to head to the garage to pick up the car.

Before leaving, the lady chef came out from the kitchen to stop him in his tracks, “Sir, Noah has not

been eating much rice, is it because he doesn’t like what I’m cooking?”

Joseph frowned, “You wouldn’t be able to make what he likes to eat.”

Hearing this, the lady chef’s face dropped.

She was a professional nutritionist, there were so many people who couldn’t even hire her with a high

salary. However, since coming to the Beckham household, whatever she made couldn’t even satisfy

the appetites of these two young masters. This was really disheartening.

A streamlined sports car drove out from the garage, the royal blue reflected the sunlight and looked

particularly magnificent. Joseph drove out from the villa.

The problem with Noah’s picky-eating had always been an issue. He was spoilt by Hayden, only eating

what she cooks. Now Noah only hopes for Stella to bring him food in the afternoon, and refused to eat

what was being cooked at home.
