“She…” Jack lowered his eyes, unsure how to broach the subject with Mandy.
Recently, Mandy had been mentioning Charlotte more frequently. Even if she

With Jack’s assurance, Mandy finally gave up on the idea of rescuing
Charlotte and promised to wait for him in the hospital.
In the following days, Jack was so busy he barely had a moment for himself.
Though he always managed to visit Mandy, it was often just for a few fleeting
minutes, and sometimes, he just made a brief appearance before rushing off.
The exhaustion on his face grew more evident each day, and it pained Mandy
to see him like that.
She knew that if it weren’t for her, Jack wouldn’t be so committed to saving
Charlotte.
