"Let me go.Gilbert would never trade me for his grandma. In his heart, she is his queen bee."
David lit a cigarette and spoke in a slow, menacing tone, "I'll let you go when I find Mrs.Kooper Sr."
"Why the hell do you even care? Let bygones be bygones," she replied.
"But I can't." David chuckled.
"I've been in hiding for too damn long, scheming for years, all for this moment. I can't stop now.
Mrs.Kooper Sr., Gilbert, and you all have to pay the price."
"You resent Mrs.Kooper Sr. for booting you out of the Kooper family, huh? But let's be real, as a mother,
she is bound to play favorites with her own flesh and blood. Plus, she treated you like royalty every
other day and even wept when mentioning you to me. She has still got a soft spot for you, doesn't
she?"
David stayed silent, the smoke from his cigarette coiling around his fingers and enshrouding his face.
Kisa let out a breath and continued.
"And my mom, she didn't betray you.She had a diary—"
"There is no damn diary," David interrupted, his voice cold as ice.
" I went to the Kooper residence and searched high and low, but there was no such thing as you
described. Heh, you still want to spin lies and say that she was in love with me?"
"That is impossible!" Kisa exclaimed.
"The diary is in my room, under the vanity, way in the back of the drawer." David locked his eyes on
her, a sneer on his lips.
"You and your mom are both pro actors, full of hot air, but damn good at selling your crap. It's
laughable."
"I'm not lying. My mom left a diary and a photo album."
"I cleared out your room, and there was a photo album, but no diary."
"Like hell, someone must have swiped it. They don't want you to see my mom's true feelings. They
want to stir up your hate, make you explode—"
But before Kisa could finish, David abruptly stood up and chuckled in a menacing tone.
"Why don't you eat now and focus on taking care of yourself? Once I find Mrs.Kooper Sr., I'll arrange a
little reunion with you and Gilbert. There is something I need to say to both of you, something that will
definitely spark some fireworks."
David finished his sentence with a sly smirk.
Kisa's heart skipped a beat.
‘What the hell is he planning? And who took my mom's diary?’ Later that night, Kisa was jolted awake
by a sound at the door.
She glared at the direction of the door, ready for anything.
Soon, the door creaked open, and a tall figure strode in.
Kisa bolted upright.
"Who are you?"
"It's me, Kisa."
The figure closed the door shut and flicked on the lights.
In the glare of the light, Kisa realized it was Thomas.
"Kisa, you okay?"
Thomas rushed over to her, his voice tense.
Kisa stared at him, stunned.
"What the are you doing here?"
"I heard about the Kooper family's mess and was worried about you.So, I came to check on you, but I
never imagined he had locked you up."
"You???"
"I did some digging about my past.Turns out my real dad is David, the same Uncle Adrien you keep
referring to.I confronted him and found out he has you locked up.Don't worry, Kisa.I'm getting you out of
here…"
Thomas helped her to her feet.
Kisa eyed him suspiciously, sensing something was off
