Agnes couldn’t shake the feeling that fate was messing with them. The father and son were destined to
meet.
“Mom, are you okay? Are you sick?”

handle, come to me. I’ve always got your back, for you and Noc”
Agnes felt a lump in her throat.
Reggie was like a real father to her
The father’s love that she had lost for so many years seemed to have been made up from him all at
once.
Agnes couldn’t imagine where she would be without him
Reggie took Nocturne away.
Agnes felt a little more at ease.
She did this to prevent Jared and Nocturne from crossing paths again.
Jared was in Manhattan now, and Agnes wasn’t comfortable with that
Sometimes, standing by the floor-to-ceiling windows of her apartment, looking at the city lights.
Agnes always remembered Jared’s face in the sunset that evening
He hadn’t changed a bit.
Agnes wasn’t sure how long Jared would stay in Manhattan.
But the city was huge, and the hadrit run into Jared again. Her life had returned to its peaceful pace
