Valeria was clearly angling for something with her statement.

Soft music was playing in the grand hall.

“Septima, you always have that smile when you’re lying. If you still have feelings for him, I’ll help you
snatch him back from Valeria, how about that?”
Agnes didn’t quite understand what Kearney meant.
Take him back? As if it were that easy.
Moreover, she never liked to snatch anything.
But curiosity did stir within her, “If you were to snatch him back for me, what would you do?”
A warm smile spread across Kearney’s face, “That, you don’t need to worry about. Just leave it to me.”

Agnes quickly declined.
She didn’t want to cause any scene.
But before she could say anything, a blonde teenager in a princess dress came rushing down the
staircase.
Several nannies were hot on her heels.
They were calling out a name, presumably the girl’s, in French, which Agnes didn’t understand.
The girl ran down the staircase and tripped over her long dress on the last few steps.
She was about to tumble down the stairs when Kearney, quick as a flash, rushed over and caught her.
The girl ended up almost falling into Kearney’s arms.
She looked up at his face and seemed to be taken aback for a moment.
