Chapter 836Chapter 836
“What are you doing up?”
Isaac strode in with a tray in hand, quickly advancing to her side. He set the tray down and helped her
up, “Hungry?”
Brittany’s eyes were brimming with tears, “I feel awful.”
Every inch of her ached.
Isaac settled her back on the bed and slid a pillow behind her lower back, “Don’t move, I’ll feed you.”
Too exhausted to protest, Brittany opened her mouth to accept the morsels.
The spicy crab, though reheated and having lost some of its former glory, still retained its delicious
flavor.
Isaac’s fingers deftly cracked the crab, and Brittany ate heartily, her mouth slick with juices. Between
bites, she also savored a bowl of beef stew, contentedly lying back down after feeling satiated.
“I’ve got some work tonight. I’ll be in the study. I should be back in about three hours. Yo rest up, Isaac
said, aware of the need to make amends for his recent excesses.
Brittany, likely exhausted, curled up under the covers and lazily reached out, grabbing his hand, “Stay
with me.”
Isaac hesitated for a few seconds before responding, “Alright, I’m going to take a shower,” When he
emerged from the bathroom, Brittany was already asleep.
Isaac lifted the covers and cradled her into sleep. After about two hours of sleep, Isaac got up, freshened up, and headed to the office.
Upon arrival, he found Wesley waiting for some time.
“You’re here.” Wesley remarked.
“How’s that deal we talked about coming along?”
“We’ve signed a letter of intent.” Wesley leaned back in his chair. “I heard Marcel missed a few orders
in a row. Grandeur Capital isn’t too pleased with him.”
Isaac had anticipated as much.
“And Manuel?”
“He’s all wrapped up with Leda,” Wesley threw up his hands in resignation. “Does he have some kind
of problem? Knowing full well Leda’s done him wrong, he can still put up with her?”
novelbin“He can’t find anyone better.”
Isaac knew Manuel all too well.
Nathan burst into the room. “Mr. Salter, that matter you had me look into? I’ve double-checked
everything, and I can confirm Ms. Joie is indeed the little girl from back then.”
Nathan had been thorough this time, ensuring the information was accurate beyond doubt.
Isaac took the file, realizing perhaps he had thought too much about it.
“Hey, everyone’s here?” Derek entered, holding a file, and glanced at the one in Isaac’s hand. “Ah, this
place, it looks familiar!”Isaac handed over the file, containing a photo that portrayed a beach scene with an endless sea, a
massive cruise ship, and a girl curled up in a corner, her eyes filled with terror.
“Seen it where?”
“Can’t remember.” Derek strained to recall but couldn’t.
Isaac reclaimed the file and the conversation turned to business.
When Wesley was about to leave, he shot Isaac a look. “I got married.”
“Your family came around?”
Had them, who previously despised Viola Miller, given their blessing?
Wesley shook his head. “Whether they like it or not doesn’t matter much anymore. I’ve had a change of
heart. Viola means more to me than I thought.”
He had been a staunch bachelor, but Viola’s arrival changed everything. The idea of bachelorhood
paled in comparison to his desire to keep her close, always.
Isaac offered his congratulations, “When’s the wedding?”
“Viola doesn’t want a big fuss, and neither do I?”
Wesley had never envisioned anything about marriage before; he had no inherent need for it
Marriage was just a means to keep Viola close.
She didn’t want a fuss, and naturally, he was happy to comply. After all, those details were
inconsequential.“Here’s to happiness,” Isaac said.
Derek also patted Wesley on the back, “Happy honeymoon.”
As Derek left the office, it suddenly hit him!
The background in the photo – he had seen it in Brittany’s photo album!
