Chapter 893Chapter 893
Brittany climbed the stairs.
Isaac had just stepped out of the bathroom. He has barely slept a wink in the past few days, leaving
him utterly exhausted.
As Brittany approached, Isaac planted a tender kiss on her forehead. “Lie down with me for a bit?”
“Sure.”
Brittany had spent some time at Salter Manor before, and everything felt oddly familiar.
Once back in bed, sleep claimed Isaac almost instantly.
But Brittany was too exhausted to find rest. The words Grace had spoken on her deathbed and the will
she had left behind haunted her thoughts, leaving her unsure of what to do next.
The matter of the poisoning had reached a conclusion.
Grace was gone, and with her, the will to dig any further seemed to vanish.
After a long contemplation, Brittany got out of bed and called Charles. “Drop the investigation into the
institute.”
“I heard about Grace,” Charles’s voice came through the phone, laden with concern. “How are you
holding up?”
“I’m managing.”
“Bri, you know Grace had been frail for a long time. Don’t take it too hard.”Grace’s death was not caused by them.
Brittany massaged her temples, “She’s gone. There’s no need to stir up more trouble by continuing the
investigation.”
“Bri, you’ve become soft-hearted,” Charles pointed out, his voice a blend of jest and truth.
Her eyes downcast; Brittany felt the truth in his words. She remembered Grace’s kindness, none of it
feigned.
After ending the call, she tiptoed back to the bedroom and snuggled into Isaac’s embrace, finding a
deep, sweet sleep.
Grace’s passing cast a shadow over the Salter family, leading Isaac and Noel to appear subdued for a
long while, with Daniel often reminiscing about her.
Apart from work, Brittany devoted her time to her family.
On a rare weekend off, the family ventured to the countryside for some respite.
The rural setting was refreshing, and Daniel was visibly joyful.
Isaac, donning sun-protective gear and carrying fishing gear, settled by the reservoir to fish.
Brittany, uninterested in fishing, rested in a nearby rocking chair, soaking up the tranquility. Bathed in
the gentle sunlight, the family’s laughter and chatter painted a serene picture.
After that brief interlude, Isaac’s mood improved significantly.
Now at the helm of Grandeur Capital, his work grew more demanding, keeping him at the office late
and whittling down his frame.novelbinBrittany urged him to ease up on the workload, but unfortunately, Isaac had to handle the mess Marcel
had left behind, resulting in an immense workload. However, his exceptional skills eventually led to
things getting back on track after a few strenuous months.
After much deliberation, Brittany and Isaac decided to postpone their wedding.
Given the recent passing of Grace, holding a wedding now seemed inappropriate, so Brittany
suggested adhering to the family tradition of waiting for three years before having the wedding
ceremony.
Isaac felt guilty, “Bri, I’m sorry.”
He hadn’t given her a wedding five years ago, and now they faced another delay.
“We’ve both been busy. We can take our time with the wedding. There’s no rush.”
While Isaac agreed to postpone the wedding, he insisted on getting the marriage certificate as soon as
possible.

Isaac nodded, “That’s right.”
At the time, he regarded it only as a sham marriage, so he didn’t delve into the matter.

Brittany nodded firmly, “Absolutely.”
