A Tentative Approach
The room was quiet as the two attendants looked at Chris with a probing gaze.
Seeing Chris’s indifferent expression, they immediately understood what to do and pulled Sienna
toward the exit.
Sienna struggled for a moment before she urged in–á raised voice, “Chris, are you just going to stand
there and watch-”
But before she could finish her complaint, she had already been dragged out.
Seemingly oblivious to the fact that Freya had ordered the attendants to get Sienna out of there, Mikael
maintained his gentlemanly and elegant demeanor as he put the dice back into the cup and looked up
at Freya. “Do you still want to play?” he asked.
“No, I’m done.” Freya sat on the couch and glanced at Chris. “What strange taste you have, Mr.
Holland. It’s time for you to improve your taste in girlfriends!”
Chris innocently replied, “There won’t be many options for me to choose from according to their
appearance if I improve my taste. I don’t actually have high requirements for a girlfriend. I just want
someone pretty.”
Freya clicked her tongue in disapproval upon hearing that.
Radley, on the other hand, remained silent. He had intended to kick that woman out earlier, but it
turned out that Freya didn’t need any help.
She wasn’t a damsel in distress who needed a man’s protection. Instead, she had taken the initiative to
kick the woman out.
Now that there were only a few people left, they lost interest in playing Truth or Dare and eventually
stopped the game.
After finishing half a glass of juice, Freya looked up at Chris and asked lazily, “How long are you guys
planning to hang out here?”
She had come here today solely because she had promised Chris a condition earlier, but now it
seemed like there was nothing else to do besides gathering here.
Freya then looked over to where Chris’s friends were singing loudly. Not only that, the clearly–drunk
group had also knocked over a few alcohol bottles, filling the entire private room with the smell of
alcohol.
Seeing Radley frown, Chris helplessly glanced in that direction and asked, “Should I send them back
first?”
“No need.” Radley stood up and picked up his coat from the couch before he looked at Freya. “I’ll take
you home.”
Not wanting to stay here anymore, Freya got up as soon as Radley said that.
They walked out together after saying goodbye to Chris and Mikael.
When they reached the entrance of the club, Freya saw Sienna being stopped there by the security
guards.
Sienna, who hadn’t seen her and Radley coming out, was furious and shouted arrogantly, “Get out of
my way! Do you know who I am? I’m your boss‘ girlfriend!”
She acted as if she were the boss‘ wife.
When the security guards remained indifferent, Sienna stomped her foot in frustration. She then turned
her head and saw Freya and Radley coming out of the club.
She immediately rushed forward while gritting her teeth.
“Miss Kaufmann, I don’t know what I did to offend you. I can apologize to you, but can you ask them to
let me in?”
There was no way she would allow herself to be dumped just like that when she had finally gotten her
hands on a wealthy man!
Freya put on a small frown at that. But before she could say anything, Radley stepped forward and
stopped Sienna from pulling Freya’s hand.
“Step aside.”
The oppressive aura emanating from Radley made Sienna’s hands tremble.
The man she had seen in the private room was a refined and elegant young man who exuded an aura
of nobility.
But now, he made her feel a little scared for some reason!
Still biting her teeth, Sienna took two steps back.
Freya had already walked past the two of them by now and was striding ahead.
After throwing a glance at Sienna, Radley promptly followed Freya.
When they reached the bottom of the stairs, the attendants had already brought Freya’s car over.
Freya looked at Radley and stated, “Thank you for today, but you don’t need to send me. I drove here
myself.”
As she opened the car door to get in, Radley reached out and stopped her.
“Have you been avoiding me lately?”
Freya felt a little awkward upon hearing that. She had indeed been avoiding him.
Still, she didn’t want to admit it. She stubbornly replied. “No. You’re probably imagining it.”
Radley pursed his lips, his gaze cold. “You said we could forget about our past.”
Freya didn’t know what to say for a moment there. After all, Radley was her savior.
She sighed softly. “I’m not avoiding you. What happened before was probably just a coincidence.
Besides, there’s nothing happening in West Geft now. It’s normal not to run into each other in a city as
big as Caltun.”
Radley quietly observed her. Even though he knew that she was lying, there was no need to expose
her.
“If that’s the case, then give me a ride,” he suddenly mentioned.
N”
She had no other choice.
Radley then got in the car. “I had some drinks just now, so I can’t drive.”
At this point, Freya had no way of refusing him.
She could feel that familiar overbearingness drifting off of the man in her passenger seat.
As she drove, she tried to ignore Radley’s presence. “Are you going back to Smalzot Yard or the
Monaghans‘ mansion?”
“Smalzot Yard, please,” replied the man with a faint smell of alcohol on him.
The car went on to drive through the night.
With her hands on the steering wheel, Freya would cautiously glance at the rearview mirror from time
to time.
She had become more cautious wherever she went after what happened last time.
Radley looked over as though he knew what she was wary of.
“Connor is looking into what happened last time. I’ll let you know when there are results.”
Freya nodded. “I’m also investigating on my side.”
Knowing that the Kaufmanns had the power to investigate this matter themselves, Radley didn’t ask
further.
He continued to remain silent all the way even when they arrived at Smalzot Yard.
“Radley.” When Freya received no response even after calling him a few times, she turned her head,
only to see Radley seemingly asleep in the passenger seat.
His
eyes, his face.
which were usually filled with depth, were now closed, and his curled eyelashes cast a shadow on
Under the streetlights outside, his skin was as fair as jade, and his face which had sharp lines now
lacked the intimidating coldness he usually exuded.
Freya hesitated at the sight of him.
The car fell into silence then.
Freya furrowed her brows. These past few days, her mood would be affected whenever she thought of
Radley…
She proceeded to tentatively lean closer to observe the man’s profile.
Why did she fall in love with him in the first place? Was it just because he was her type?
Her gaze slowly moved between Radley’s features as she marveled at the Creator’s favorite.
There were a few strands of hair scattered on Radley’s forehead, covering his thick and sharp
eyebrows.
Freya’s hand moved faster than her brain could process as she reached out to brush those strands
away…
And that was when Radley’s eyes suddenly opened.
Deep and mysterious, his dark eyes contained a captivating whirlpool. Freya wanted to retract her
hand, but Radley’s reaction was faster as he grabbed her wrist!
Freya felt a bit guilty the moment they locked eyes.
Radley then breathed in a voice low and mellow. “What are you trying to do?”
