The Person Climbing the Window
“Mr. Monaghan, where are you going?” Connor caught up to Radley.
“The hospital.” Radley’s eyes were cold. “Get the car!”
Connor hurriedly tried to talk him out of it. “Mr. Monaghan, the Kaufmanns won’t let you see Miss
Kaufmann even if you go now!”
Radley had been going to Caltun General Hospital every day for the past few days. At first, he would
wait outside the building, but now he would sit on a bench in the corridor.
Connor felt sorry for his boss. That guy from the Kaufmanns is totally heartless!
At the end of Connor’s sentence, Radley stopped walking and turned to Connor. “Get me the blueprint
of Caltun General Hospital!”
Connor might be a bit confused, but it wasn’t hard to get his hands on what Radley wanted.
The blueprint was delivered to Radley’s office in no time.
Radley looked at the floor plan for a while before his gaze fell on the diagram of the hospital’s main
building.
There was a fire escape there, but the top floor had always been closed because no one had lived
there before. He didn’t know if the fire escape was still accessible.
His eyes shifted to the window outside the staircase corridor and soon lit up when his gaze landed on a
spot
From the design of the wards and the positioning of the bodyguards, he used a pen to sketch out their
positions from memory.
Finally, he pinpointed that Freya’s ward should be the innermost one facing the corridor.
After collecting the blueprints, Radley called Connor. “Send the head of the Holland Group’s Commerce
Department to my office.”
Radley worked at the company the entire day and didn’t leave until evening. After getting into the car,
he looked at Connor. “Did you prepare everything I asked for?”
Connor was a bit nervous. “Everything is ready, but…”
As much as he wanted to ask what these things were for, he didn’t have the courage to speak up.
Half an hour later, the car arrived at Caltun General Hospital.
Radley asked Connor to wait downstairs while he headed straight into the main building of the hospital
and took the elevator to the 30th floor.
The corridors from the 30th floor to the 33rd third had been closed off since those floors were vacant all
along.
Looking at the locked door, Radley knew that it was impossible to go up from here unless he used the
elevator.
However, the elevators were guarded strictly.
Radley noted that the stairwell was quiet. As he looked at the window next to the wall, he felt his heart
flutter.
He had seen the design drawings of the inpatient building earlier today. There was a section used as a
prominent place for decorative light strips extending from each floor outside the window, but it was only
one foot wide.
Radley’s movements in the dark of the night were nimble. He had one end of the rope prepared by
Connor around his waist while he hung the other end on the pipe beside the window.
He inched forward before he finally moved to the side of the air conditioner outside. From here, there
was a pillar that he could climb up little by little.
Compared to the lower grounds, the wind on the 30th floor was clearly stronger.
Even so, Radley merely glanced down and saw how small the people and vehicles under his feet had
become.
He kept slowly crawling up along the pillar.
With his agility, he spent only five minutes climbing up the three-story building.
Afterward, he moved bit by bit along the wall with the decorative light strips.
He was like a gecko in the night.
Connor was still waiting on the first floor, thinking about the use of those ropes and some hard hooks
that Radley asked him to prepare. When he finally connected the dots, he abruptly looked up at the
night hospital building.
On the top floor of the inpatient building, a figure was slowly moving under the fluorescent bar light!
Connor’s eyes shot open, and his knees went weak as he slumped to the ground all of a sudden.
Bean-sized sweat oozed from his forehead.
Mr. Monaghan wanted me to prepare those things so that he could climb the building?! It’s a thirty-
three-story building! Connor was so nervous that his mouth felt dry from nervousness. If anything goes
wrong… What are the chances of survival?! It’s 33 floors we’re talking about here!Mr. Monaghan, are
you sacrificing yourself for Miss Kaufmann?!
Connor’s heart was in his mouth the whole time he watched the figure in the night.
Every tiny movement of that figure seemed to fiddle with his heart.
Cold sweat continued to pour from his forehead. He finally felt relieved when the figure reached the
window on the 33rd floor and jumped in, but by then, Connor’s back was already drenched in sweat!
33rd floor of the building.
Radley glanced left and right after he jumped into the room. The ward he was in should be next to
Freya’s.
Since this location had passed the corridor, there were basically no bodyguards around anymore.
All he needed to do was sneak into Freya’s room when no one was looking.
Radley let out a laugh. This was the first time someone as upright as him had done something like
sneaking into someone else’s room in the middle of the night.
Without thinking too much, he loosened the belt around his waist and moved to the door while listening
to the sounds outside.
After a while, he gently left the door ajar and glanced outside. The bodyguards were looking in the
direction of the elevator vigilantly.
Radley then tiptoed over and quickly pushed open the door to Freya’s ward, stepped in, and quickly but
quietly closed the door again.
After he was in the brightly-lit ward, he turned around and strode inside.
His heart was beating fast. He wanted to see how Freya was doing now.
But when he got to the inner room, he came to a stop the moment he saw the person on the hospital
bed.
Other than a small frown, a hint of disbelief also appeared on his stern face.
Freya was sitting on the hospital bed with her legs crossed as she happily munched on fruit from the
plate she was holding.
With a silver fork in her hand raised to her mouth, and her eyes wide open, the woman also froze when
she saw Radley.
For a moment, Radley only felt a wave of anger burning from the soles of his feet to his head.
If only he could bring himself to beat her up!
“Radley? Why are you here? No, how did you come in? Freya was so startled that she choked on the
watermelon in his mouth.
Where did this man appear from?! She was sure she had bodyguards posted in every corridor of the
hospital!
Radley’s eyes were cold, and his worries and fears for so long turned into a burst of anger. He smiled
back in anger and pointed to the window not far from Freya’s hospital bed.
Freya’s eyes went wide immediately, and she covered her mouth on her petite and rosy face. “Y-You
climbed up the building?! Were you trying to get yourself killed?!”
Radley stalked over, and as he stood in front of Freya, he reached out and took the plate from her hand
steadily before setting it down on the bedside table.
The dumbfounded woman remained motionless.
Radley then took the silver fork away from her and put it on the fruit platter.
“Y-You! What are you doing?” She finally caught a whiff of danger.
In the next second, Radley threw her onto the bed!
