Brisa drove the car and brought Freya back to the Kaufmann Residence.

Before they even entered the house, they heard familiar voices coming from the living room.

“Mrs. Kaufmann, I think this outfit suits you better. On the wedding day, you’ll definitely. outshine

everyone.”

Sylvia’s soft laughter could be heard, clearly indicating that she was being flattered.

“All eyes will be on the bride by then. I still think this muted white outfit looks better.”

“The white one is a great choice too. It makes you look elegant and noble, highlighting your

best features.”

Freya’s mouth twitched, realizing why her mother had asked her to return for lunch.

When they entered the living room, they saw Matthew sitting across from Sylvia on the opposite sofa,

looking like a well-behaved and sensible young man.

When Matthew saw Freya return, he seemed pleasantly surprised.

“Freya’s back.”

Sylvia looked up and said, “Freya, Matthew just returned from the Hartterre branch. You two should

have a good chat.”

With that, Sylvia got up and walked toward the dining room.

Once Sylvia left, Matthew immediately dropped his act.

His previously proper posture became a bit more relaxed, and his lips curled up to reveal his

snaggletooth. He had a mischievous smile on his face as he asked, “Have you missed me. Frey?”

Freya glared at Matthew. “You’d better behave. If my mom sees your true colors, she’d give you a good

scolding.”

“Mrs. Kaufmann likes me a lot. She even praised me for becoming more mature and stable recently.”

As he spoke, his gaze shifted to Freya’s belly. “It’s been over seven months already. Our baby must be

missing their daddy.”

Brisa widened her eyes and looked at Matthew, then at Freya.

Freya gritted her teeth. “Keep your mouth shut. Everyone outside thinks it’s only been six months. Also,

we’ve already agreed that you don’t need to pretend to be the baby’s father anymore. Stop taking

advantage of the situation.”

Matthew raised an eyebrow. “I never agreed to that.”

Freya was used to his attitude. She knew that the more she argued with Matthew, the more. tangled

things would become.

At noon, Braxton did not come back.

Sylvia, Freya, Matthew, and Brisa had lunch together.

“Freya, you’d better not wander around these days. Your brother’s wedding is approaching,” said Sylvia

as she looked at the woman.

“So soon? Aren’t there many things to prepare?” Freya asked.

When it came to the wedding preparations, Sylvia seemed quite satisfied with the progress.

“Yeah, but Isabella has already taken care of them. She said I don’t have to worry.”

Sylvia had been mentioning Isabella, her daughter-in-law, with a smile on her face recently.

“We’re already a small family to begin with. When Isabella marries into our family and gives. birth to

another baby for your brother, I will have grandchildren to play with, and I won’t need to bother you

anymore.” Sylvia smiled.

At the mention of babies, the utensils in Freya’s hand froze.

She looked up slightly and met Matthew’s gaze. Both of them had serious expressions on their faces.

Freya couldn’t tell Sylvia about Braxton’s health condition, and she felt the burden on her shoulders

getting heavier.

After lunch, Matthew had no plans of leaving and remained in the living room, chatting with Sylvia.

After a while, Sylvia felt sleepy and went upstairs to take a nap, leaving only Freya, Matthew, and Brisa

in the living room.

“Any places you’d like to visit, Frey? I can take you there.” Matthew suggested.

Freya glanced at Matthew. “Did you visit the Hood Residence after coming back from

24

Hartterre?”

Hearing this, Matthew’s expression changed slightly.

Freya sighed softly. “Are you still at odds with your family?”

Matthew sneered. “They can’t stand me and want to be at odds with me. What can I do?”

Ever since Matthew’s younger brother passed away, Freya would occasionally hear about. Matthew’s

situation from her brother. Even though they were both sons, their parents were reluctant to hand over

the Hood Group to Matthew and always tried to hinder him.

Freya couldn’t understand this.

Both of them were their sons, and Matthew wasn’t any worse than his younger brother.

Since they had already decided to hand over the company to Matthew, why bother making things

difficult?

“Alright, stop thinking about my family’s affairs.” Matthew smiled. “Take good care of yourself and give

birth to our baby before you start overthinking.”

Matthew stayed at the Kaufmann Residence before leaving in the afternoon.

Over the next two days, Freya didn’t go out.

She stayed at home with Sylvia, helping her choose dresses and flowers for the upcoming banquet.

Before she knew it, Saturday had arrived.

Freya woke

up early and quietly left the Kaufmann Residence, avoiding Sylvia. She drove to the small villa where

she stored her medical equipment.

As soon as she parked the car in the courtyard, she noticed a red dot aimed at her vehicle.

It was a laser sight.

She was startled and immediately turned her head to look.

The laser sight disappeared in an instant, and the window on the third floor opened.

Eugene, one of the Kerg brothers, stood at the window and waved his hand.

“You’re finally here, GS!”

Freya gritted her teeth.

Soon, Freya sat on the sofa in the living room, while Michael and Eugene stood obediently in

front of her.

“I asked you to watch over this place to protect the safety of these researchers for the time. being!

Seeing how you pointed a laser sight at me, it won’t be long before the police come knocking on our

door!” Freya was furious.

Eugene seemed a bit aggrieved.

“I didn’t expect it to be you, GS. You drove in all of a sudden, so I had to be cautious.”

Michael raised his hand and slapped his brother’s head. “You shouldn’t have pointed the laser sight at

GS, though!”

Freya held her forehead, feeling helpless.

Thanks to Brisa, these two still had their buzz-cut hairstyles.

Plus, they were always on missions at The Green Flamation forum, which gave them at murderous

aura.

In other words, these two looked like bad.

Together with this hairstyle, it made them look like they had just come out of prison.

Freya waved her hand. “The main reason I’m here today is to interview several medical researchers.

Most of them are dedicated researchers, after all.”

“Well, what’s the matter, GS?”

Freya pursed her lips. “First of all, please address me as Miss Kaufmann from now on. Do not call me

GS!”

“Okay, M-Miss Kaufmann!”

Freya nodded and smiled. “If the people coming today pass the interview, they’ll probably be staying

with you guys for a long time. Remember to be friendly, alright?”

Eugene waved the laser sight in his hand.

“Don’t worry, GS. I will treat them like my own brothers!”
