Radley looked at Freya and his gaze fell on her abdomen, as though he understood the internal
struggle she was facing.
“In a few days, we’ll draft a contract. I’ll have Connor book a plane ticket for you, and then I’ll sign the
contract.”
Freya looked up at him with a hint of confusion as she frowned. It seems like this man can see through
my thoughts.
“Thank you,” Freya said softly.
A momentary pause followed, then a deep glimmer gleamed in his eyes as he turned his head to look
at Freya. From his angle, he could only see her side profile which was illuminated by the golden light of
the sunset, adorned with eyes that held a crystal clarity.
“You don’t have to thank me, ever,” Radley said.
She smiled and remained silent.
The two of them discussed the specific details of the contract they were about to sign, and without
realizing it, they had already walked quite a distance up the mountain. When Freya snapped out of her
thoughts, she could already see the villa in the distance.
Exhausted from the hike, she settled onto a large rock beside the path and began massaging her legs
with flagging energy.
“I’ll call Brisa to come pick us up. This mountain road is wide enough for a car to pass through.” Radley
glanced at the villa in the distance.
He frowned.
The time spent with her must have been remarkably enjoyable, for we have inadvertently journeyed
quite a distance. He then looked worriedly at Freya’s belly. It would definitely be inconvenient to walk
back.
“I’ll carry you back,” Radley said.
Freya’s temples were slightly sweaty. “No, it’s too far.”
Even those who were usually professional athletes might not be able to walk that far, let alone Radley.
However, he frowned once again and looked at the sky. Though the sunset looks beautiful at the
moment, it’s already getting dark.
Night always descended swiftly upon the mountains, not to mention the mountain breeze had become
slightly chilly now.
He took off his jacket and walked up to Freya, draping it over her.
She wanted to refuse, but the next moment, she was lifted up in his arms. This wasn’t the first time
Radley had carried her, but her heart still raced. She wrapped one hand around his sturdy neck; her
brows furrowing slightly as her gaze lowered.
Meanwhile, the crescent moon had ascended gradually, poised against the deep blue expanse. The
surrounding seemed to be silenced too; all Freya could hear was Radley’s breathing which was
growing increasingly evident and heavy.
After half an hour, they finally arrived at the villa’s front door, having taken only one break during their
journey.
Freya pursed her lips and looked at Radley’s hands which were clearly strained and stiff from exerting
too
much force.
Upon entering the villa, they found Brandon already seated in the living room. When he also noticed.
their arrival, he immediately stood up.
“Where have you two been? You’ve been gone for so long
“We went for a walk up the mountain.” Freya offered a smile.
Brandon glanced at the jacket Radley had draped over Freya. “We’re about to have dinner. Don’t
wander off again.”
Half an hour later, Brisa also returned with three rabbits.
The servant who accompanied her looked at her with admiration and astonishment. “I’ve never seen
anyone catch wild rabbits here before. The rabbits here are so cunning, you can’t catch them with bows
and arrows. Miss Trujillo, you’re amazing.
Brandon’s excitement was palpable as he inspected the rabbits. “I’ve been living here for so long and
set up many traps, yet I never managed to catch a rabbit. You’ve got some skills, young lady.”
Brisa wore a proud expression as she lifted her chin. “If I wasn’t concerned that catching them all would
leave you without any food, I could catch a few more.”
Radley’s gaze swept over Brisa and then landed on the rabbits on the ground. The three rabbits didn’t
have any obvious wounds, but they were already dead. They were undoubtedly killed by a single blow.
His eyes flickered slightly as he looked at Freya standing nearby.
She, too, had already noticed that something was off and avoided his gaze with a guilty conscience.
Brisa forgot to conceal her skills while catching the rabbits.
Thankfully, Brandon paid the situation little heed and enthusiastically had the servant roast the rabbits
for a night of drinking.
During dinner, Trisha joined them after her rest. The five of them ate together.
After dinner, Freya checked the time and saw that it was already past 8 p.m. and the sky outside was
very dark. She planned to bid farewell and leave, but Trisha insisted she stay. Then, she worriedly
inquired about Brandon’s recent work situation.
At the same time, Brandon was engaging Radley in a discussion about soaking in the hot springs.
A further delay ensued, and the sky outside turned even darker.
Trisha furrowed her brows, saying, “Radley, don’t go back tonight. It’s quite late, and although the
mountain road here is well-maintained, there are many spots that can be dangerous if visibility is poor.”
Brisa volunteered eagerly. “Madam, rest assured. Even if I’m blindfolded, I can still safely guide her
down. the mountain!”
Trisha became even more concerned upon hearing this, and both Brandon and Radley looked at her.
“Having you said that, I insist on not allowing you to drive back even more.” She had been keen on
having Freya stay the night all along.
Meanwhile, Freya looked at Brisa, who nonchalantly shrugged, clearly indicating her willingness.
She thought for a moment. Not returning home would mean that I need to make a call to my family.
However, if I tell Brax that I am staying at Radley’s villa, I have no doubt that even at midnight, he will
drive up the mountain to fetch me.
With that in mind, she took out her phone to send a message to Isabella.
Freya: Izzy, if my brother asks you, just tell him that I’m staying overnight at the Parker Residence
tonight.
Isabella: Where are you actually staying?
Freya: I came to visit my Master’s wife today. Since it’s late now, and it’s not convenient to travel the
mountain road, I’m planning to stay the night with her.
Isabella: For such a minor matter, you could have directly told your elder brother. I actually thought you
finally found a wild man out there, and here I was getting excited for no reason.
Freya was slightly speechless. At least Isabella agreed.
Thus, she also agreed with Trisha. “Mrs. Lane, rest assured. I’ll stay over tonight and leave after
daybreak.”
Trisha’s face lit up, and she instructed the maids to prepare a room for her.
On the other hand, Brandon pulled Radley aside and smiled mischievously. “Radley, you came here in
Freya’s car, and even she isn’t going back. I don’t think you can walk down the mountain in the middle
of the night. Why don’t you stay as well?”
Radley nodded. “That would be a bother.”
“If you’re staying, then come with me to soak in the hot springs. Let’s have a good chat.”
As Radley was led away by Brandon, Brisa became excited. “Freya, let’s go soak in the hot springs
too. It’s not like we can sleep at this hour anyway.”
Freya hesitated. “There might not be enough hot springs here.”
A maid immediately stepped forward. “Miss Kaufmann, there are several hot springs in the backyard. I
can take you and Miss Trujillo to another one.”
Watching Brisa’s excitement, Freya agreed. Subsequently, the two of them went to the room that Trisha
had prepared and took two sets of clothes suitable for the hot springs. Then, under the guidance of the
maid, they proceeded to the chosen hot spring.
