After checking on the baby, Freya went downstairs.

Downstairs, Braxton was sitting on the sofa chatting with Sylvia. Freya caught snippets of the

conversation, hearing mentions of the Monaghan Group.

As she descended the stairs, both Braxton and Sylvia simultaneously changed the subject.

“Mom,” Freya greeted. “Why haven’t you gone to work today, Brax?”

“Isabella’s family is having a gathering today, so I asked Ayden to look after the company. I need to

make a trip to the Parkers’ later,” Braxton answered..

Braxton knew that Freya had been busy researching his illness at home recently, yet his heart still

ached. when he saw the dark circles under her eyes.

“Do you want to come with me to the Parker Residence? It might help you relax a bit. After all, the

Parkers. know you,” he suggested.

Freya took a sip of water from her glass. “I’ll pass. I’m at a critical point in my research.”

Sylvia cast a skeptical glance at both of them. “Frey, what research are you working on?”

Freya smiled. “You’ll know soon enough.”

After breakfast, Freya saw Braxton off at the door and reminded him, “The weather forecast says it’s

going to snow today. Drive slowly.”

“Got it.” Braxton ruffled Freya’s hair affectionately.

After that, Freya chatted with her mother for a while and immediately immersed herself in her research.

The top floor of Trinity Club was Chris’ private space. His office had changed entirely at this time. The

original solid wood desk had been removed, and the entire top floor now resembled a presidential

suite.

Mikael and Chris were seated on the sofa, looking at the man standing by the floor-to-ceiling window.

“Radley, come back and continue playing cards. What are you staring at?” Chris’ gaze followed

Radley’s to the night sky, where the falling snowflakes stood out vividly under the lights.

“It’s snowing.”

“I know. I got a text on my phone today,” Chris said. “When did you become such a romantic, taking

time to watch the snow?”

“Snowing means spring is coming soon,” Radley commented as he returned to the table.

The doctor had said that Freya should not be subjected to any stress during the early stages of her

memory recovery, as it could lead to confusion and her getting lost in the past.

Radley felt extremely sorry for her.

Radley felt deeply concerned.

He forced himself to recall the bits and pieces of those two years.

That kind of pain had resurfaced in Freya once again, and it was all because of his arrogance back

then.

He even hesitated to look at her now. If only he had taken the time to talk with her back then, things

would’ve likely been so much better!

Then again, the doctor also noted that she’d be fine in three, four months.

Now, nearly four months had passed, and he was eager to be by her side.

Chris finished shuffling the cards. “Radley, how much longer are you going to occupy my office? Unlike

you two, my base isn’t in Caltun. I rely on this place for a foothold.”

“Just a while longer. There’s still turmoil outside, isn’t there?” Radley replied coldly.

Mikael smiled as he played a pair of three. “Your move is quite clever. Anyone with ulterior motives

should reveal themselves by now. Aren’t you going to deal with them?”

Radley’s gaze deepened. “I have another goal.”

“What goal?” Mikael asked curiously.

Radley played two cards, his expression subdued. “I found out earlier that someone has been secretly

investigating Freya. These individuals have concealed themselves well, and I still haven’t found out

who they are. But at that time, I was out in the open while they lurked in the shadows, and I suffered

some setbacks.

“There’s actually someone in this world you fail to dig into?!” Chris, chuckling, doubted with surprise.

Mikael, on the other hand, frowned, his expression becoming serious. “If they’re investigating Freya,

the Kaufmanns will definitely get involved. Do you have no leads from their side?”

“No, not four months ago. At that time, Freya had only sensed their presence,” Radley replied calmly.

The Monaghan Group and the Kaufmann Group reigned over Caltun. If even they couldn’t uncover

them. it could only mean that there was likely a terrifying undercurrent beneath the calm surface!

After overcoming the final research hurdle, Freya personally visited the research laboratory.

As soon as she entered, she found the thin, elderly researcher, Fabian, among the researchers, looking

quite delighted.

“Miss Kaufmann, you’re here. Did Professor Harlan not come again this time?” Fabian asked.

Freya forced a smile and replied, “Professor Harlan is busy, but he did help solve the challenges we

faced.

In the room, the other three researchers also approached.

“Miss Kaufmann, are you here to inspect the work?” Maddox smiled.

Lucius added, “Miss Kaufmann, the information Professor Harlan sent yesterday was very useful.

We’ve all been inspired, and if all goes well, we should have our research results by the end of this

week.”

Freya smiled. She had originally held only a 20% hope of success when she began this research. But

things had been progressing surprisingly smoothly.

The medicine she had developed now had the potential to provide a complete cure.

It just required a longer period of consumption, ideally in combination with surgery.

Fabian beamed with excitement. “If we announce this achievement to the world, it will definitely cause

a huge sensation. We will truly become famous!”

At 59 years old, Fabian had always played it safe and hadn’t achieved anything significant in his

lifetime. However, he was dependable for handling smaller tasks. But seeing Fabian’s excitement,

Freya interrupted him, “We can’t release these results publicly yet. I need to conduct some experiments

and confirm the findings before making them known.”

“What does a young assistant like you understand? This kind of thing doesn’t need practical testing.

We’ve simulated its effects countless times in our minds and experiments; it’s foolproof,” Fabian

claimed confidently.

Freya sighed, knowing her words lacked authority.

“It’s not my decision but Professor Harlan’s.”

As soon as Professor Harlan’s name was mentioned, Fabian fell silent, although his expression

revealed his dissatisfaction.

Freya arranged the subsequent steps of the experiments and assigned responsibilities.

Because the experiments were crucial, she didn’t involve Fabian, who had average skills.

Fabian turned grim. I’ve merely made a comment, and now this assistant won’t give me any work! How

will people know I’m also involved in this project if my name doesn’t appear on the published

experimental data?!

Fabian’s gaze fell on the materials that Freya had brought.

He was nearing retirement age without any significant academic achievements to his name.

What if. What if I’m the sole author of this research?!

At that, his eyes scanned the various instruments in the room.

When the time comes, he could claim that he used their equipment for his research. Then, if they tried

to steal his findings, he could easily accuse them of plagiarism.

Who can truly discern the truth from the lie? Also, whoever speaks up first will be recognized as the

originator.
