Maja stood up now, saying, “You’re right, some things are just meant to be, no point in forcing it, I’ll
throw your words right back at you.”
Carlene started shaking, banging hard on the glass in front of her.
‘Don’t get all high and mighty! You lowlife! Even with all I’ve done, I still have parents who love me.
What do you have? You don’t even know where your parents are! Poor, unfortunate soul! lan doesn’t
love you either, you’re pathetic!”
Maja penned down a check for half a million straight away.
“I’ll arrange for you to be sent out of the country and bar you from re–entry. You won’t be seen in this
city again.”
“What right do you have to do this? You lowlife! I haven’t lost yet!”
Carlene was led away due to her over–excitement.
Maja sat there, feeling a deep sadness. Her mood was far from pleasant.
Originally, she thought having Carlene jailed would be best, but now she had to let her go and even pay
her. Talk about a downer.
Maja looked somewhat upset. As she left, she ran into Beck Sanders.
Beck was sporting a grey trench coat and a designer scarf today.
Maja turned the last corner and bumped right into Beck’s arms.
Beck instinctively held her, looking down at her.
“Penny?”
“Mr. Sanders.”
Maja stepped back. Why was Beck at the police station?
Beck seemed to read her mind, pointing to his car parked by the roadside. “The thieves here are
insane. They stole all four wheels of my car.”
Maja thought he was joking. When she saw the Rolls–Royce logo had been pried off, she couldn’t help
but burst into laughter.
This was absurd.
“So you’re here to report a crime?”
Beck nodded, “I parked my car near a bar by the police station last night. When I came out after drinks,
all that was left was the chassis.”
Maja found it hilarious, but it would be rude to laugh out loud, so she held it in.
“Penny, I’m not too familiar with this city, would you mind being my guide?”
Beck seemed to fancy Maja.
Maja happened to be free today, and Beck’s words did lighten her mood, so she agreed, “I’d be
honored.”
She accompanied Beck to give his statement. The cops had never seen such a bold thief, especially
one who dared to strike near the police station.
The cops were all pretty embarrassed.
When Beck came out, he had an eye on Maja’s car.
Maja took the chance to ask, “Need a ride?”
Beck nodded, hopping into the driver’s seat. “My new car won’t arrive until the afternoon. I can’t let my
family know about this, or they’ll think I’m messing around again.
He glanced at his phone, “I’ve arranged to meet someone in half an hour, want to come along? I could
use your car.”
If Beck really needed a ride, a call would have a fleet of luxury cars picking him up. After all, many
domestic companies wanted to collaborate with the Sanders family.
“Mr. Sanders, that might be inappropriate. I don’t know who you’re meeting, and they don’t know me.”
“I’m meeting Nolan Smith. I’d like to explore the Greenfield scene, see if there are any scripts worth
investing in. Isn’t he regarded as a veteran among scriptwriters? I thought I’d meet him today, see if he
has any scripts.”
Nolan was a renowned scriptwriter, unlike Tyler Bennitt. Nolan was currently a mentor at the Skyrim
Film Academy, writing one or two scripts each year.
Each script could be adapted into a TV series, usually with over twenty episodes. The content was rich
and thought–provoking.
Though Tyler’s scripts were also popular, he catered mostly to market demands, focusing on romance.
That was his forte.
But Nolan’s scripts were diverse. He was truly deserving of being a Skyrim Film Academy mentor and
guest professor.
Maja had planned to meet Nolan at the last yacht party, but due to her accidental drowning, she left
early. She never expected to have this chance now.
“Alright, Mr. Sanders, I’ll take you there.”
Beck saw her change in attitude and chuckled.
“So, you’re interested in investing in film and television?”
“Yes, I’ve just started a new company and am planning to venture into the film and television industry.”
Beck looked surprised. The last time he saw Maja, she was docile in front of lan, making him assume
she was just lan’s kept woman.
He didn’t expect her to have such ambitions.
He suddenly found her interesting.
“If you really want to invest in film and television, why not just go to lan? He might be a bit arrogant, but
he’s very savvy in business. I’ve heard of him when I was in North America. But his businesses there
never conflicted with the Sanders family’s interests, so we’ve never crossed paths.”
