Chapter 730
Maja took a deep breath and turned to the man in charge, “Let’s play a game, shall we?”
The man thought he had misheard. It was a peculiar time for games.
Maja looked at him, “You guys have taken over the building, so I can’t just disappear. Plus, that object
is important to you and me. I wouldn’t bat an eye even if you offended some unimportant people. So
let’s play a game. If I lose, I’ll tell you where my mom hid the object.”
The man raised an eyebrow, pointing his gun at her forehead with a jerk.
“Do you really think I would believe you?”
Maja wasn’t scared at all. She just looked at him calmly, “You have no choice but to trust me. I’m the
only one who knows where the object is,”
“Ms. Pennyfeather, do you even know what we’re looking for?”
The muzzle was closer to her forehead. One wrong answer, and she’d be done for.
But Maja remained composed.
“You’re looking for an object that looked like a jellyfish, a seal, right?”
She didn’t really remember, but seeing the jellyfish tattoo on the man’s hand, she suddenly
remembered that she used to have something like that at home.
It was a seal shaped like a jellyfish, very unique, so she remembered.
But at home, it was just used as a table mat.
Once, when Lillian examined the object, she asked her, “Maja, do you like this?”
“Mom, it’s weird. It has a peculiar shape.”
Lillian patted her head, “Remember the shape of this object. You might need it someday, but I hope you
never have to. You’re my daughter, and if you’re ever bullied, this object might come in handy.”
They were poor back then and didn’t have much to play with. Lillian used to play hide and seek with
her, hiding an object, and if the other person found it, they lost.
Maja hid a small carrot, and Lillian hid the jellyfish–shaped white jade seal.
She never thought much of it in the past, but now, thinking about it, the object and the tattoo looked
strikingly similar.
Sure enough, the man’s eyes lit up as soon as she mentioned the seal.
“So Ms. Pennyfeather does know about the object.”
Maja looked at him indifferently, “If you kill me or anyone here, I won’t tell you where the object is.”
She had already revealed some information, so the man completely trusted her.
The man waved his hand, and someone came over to unlock Maja’s handcuffs.
Maja flexed her wrist and looked at the crowd, “I need a hand.”
The man’s face immediately turned cold. He heard her continue: “Just let me pick a girl.”
Hearing it was a girl, the man sneered.
“Alright, Ms. Pennyfeather, who do you want to choose?”
Maja looked at Connie, walked over, and pulled her up.
Connie was already terrified by the bodies around her. At that moment, she was extremely scared,
trying to struggle, but Maja said sternly, “Shut up!” Tears started rolling down Connie’s cheeks.
In between sobs, she called out to her cousin lan, complaining about Maja’s madness, and feared that
she would be killed by them.
She must have wanted to go complain to her cousin, so this woman wanted to seize this opportunity to
get rid of her.
Maja didn’t explain, and she just looked at the man in charge.
“That’s her.”
The man looked at the crying girl she chose and asked, “What game does Ms. Pennyfeather want to
play?”
“Hide and seek.”
Hearing this, the man laughed as if he had heard a funny joke.
Maja waited for him to finish laughing, then said calmly, “What, scared?”
It was a provocation. The man was excited because she picked a crying girl, and when he heard she
wanted to play hide and seek, he agreed without hesitation.
“Alright, my men will find you within forty minutes.”
He confidently wiped the gun in his hand, his tone sinister, “Ms. Pennyfeather, you better not play any
tricks, or else.”
His muzzle pointed at a child.
Maja immediately blocked the muzzle, “The game has just started. Like I said, if you hurt anyone, I
won’t tell you where the object is.”
What he wanted was the object, not a massacre
He glanced at his watch, “You have twenty minutes to hide.”
Maja dragged Connie and left.
Connie was so scared that her legs were shaky,
‘Let me go, let me go! lan, help!”
Maja covered her mouth, “If they know you’re lan’s cousin, you’ll be dead faster”
Connie blinked, being pulled upstairs by Maja.
They arrived at a floor in the middle.
Maja opened the door to a storage room in the bathroom. Inside were brooms.
She quickly took apart the broom, leaving only a stick in her hand.
Connie was still crying on the side, not knowing what Maja would do.
“Stop crying. Even if something happens to me, I won’t let anything happen to you.”
Tears were still streaming down Connie’s face. Maja put the stick in her hand and told her, “Later I will
lure a man in. You just hit him in the head with this
stick.”
“I can’t.”
‘Connie!”
Maja held her hand, her eyes determined.
“Calm down! You’re a Raymond, and you can do this.”
