Don’t Worry Just Yet
Meanwhile, at the Fuller family’s villa.
Ever since the day Byron kicked Wendy out of his home, she had been miserable.
In the past, Aunty Melody would have stepped up and defended her, but she did not help her that day,
which only meant that even Mrs. Lawrence had no power to do so.
Realizing this, Wendy felt absolutely ashamed.
She was not a fool either. After waiting for Byron for so many years, she knew deep inside that Byron
may not have any plans to marry her at all.
However, she always held a touch of luck. Besides, Mrs. Lawrence would help her along the way.
She always felt that as long as she could wait, Byron would marry her sooner or later.
She did not expect her patience to bring forth this wench Rosalie who returned to Coast city, as well as
Byron who repeatedly told her that he wanted to break the engagement.
After calming down at home for a day, Wendy took a chance and went to visit Melody.
Seeing her arrival, Melody could not help but be stunned for a moment. She then welcomed her in as
always.
“Aunt Melody, did I disturb your rest?” Wendy’s face was full of self-blame.
When her son planned to break up the engagement with Wendy, Melody felt guilty for her. Plus, she
also liked Wendy, so she smiled casually, “Of course not! You’re like my half-daughter. There’s no way
you would disturb me. You’re just coming home.”
Wendy laughed with self-pity. “In the past, you always said that you treated me as your daughter-in-
law, but today…”
As she said that, it brought tears to her eyes.
Wendy paused, raised her hand to wipe away the tears from the corners of her eyes, and continued
calmly. ” Aunt Melody, I’m here today to apologize to you. Over the years when I’ve been with Byron
and you, I’ve made many mistakes. I know you all care about the Fuller family’s kindness toward
Byron, which is why you’ve always tolerated me. Right now, since Byron wants to distance himself from
me, I should also apologize to you. I hope you can forgive me for my reckless past.”
After speaking, she looked at Melody pitifully again. ” But I hope you know that I used to regard myself
as Byron’s future wife. No matter what I did in the past, I did it with all of you in mind. Sometimes, I did
the wrong things with good intentions. I truly didn’t mean them. In the future, I can’t be by your side like
I used to. I just hope you can forgive my past wrongdoings.”
Melody felt heartache as she saw that Wendy was holding back her tears.
Over the years, she had always treated Wendy as her future daughter-in-law. She was very satisfied
with her in every possible way.
Now that her son suddenly made such a decision, it had caught her off guard.
Wendy’s apology pierced her heart with every word, which made her miss Wendy’s company in the
past.
“Wendy, darling, don’t worry. This matter has not yet been concluded.” Melody got up and sat down
beside Wendy in distress. She put her arm around her shoulder soothingly.
Wendy bit her lower lip bitterly. “Aunt, I know all about Byron’s temperament. I understand what he’s
like. Since he already said that, there’s really no room for change. It’s okay. If you ever feel lonely, you
can still look for me. In my heart, you’re the same as my mother.”
Melody was moved more than ever. After thinking for a while, she assured her. “Wendy, don’t worry just
yet. As long as the matter about him canceling the engagement isn’t spread to the public, there’s still
room for things to turn around. Once Byron’s anger has subsided, I’ll talk to him again.”
Wendy nodded as she had achieved her goal, but her expression still looked pitiful and bitter.
