She’d never seen Skyler so mad before. She stuttered for a moment before saying, “I didn’t… I just
think Uncle Clyde has been pretty good to us.” Skyler realized her reaction was a bit too much and took

more.”
Kaylee thought to herself: what could Uncle Clyde get from treating her well? Mom always considered

confident about this. She had been showing her affection for Mason for years and no one was more

family became incredibly doting towards him, so if he doesn’t want to marry, no one can force him,”

Mason was a dutiful son, well known in the upper–class circle. As long as the Fletcher family’s elders
agreed, her marriage to Mason was a done deal, right?
Being her mother, Skyler could easily read Kaylee’s thoughts.
She said, “Pay more attention to Mason. You need to make him take the initiative so you won’t be
wronged after marrying into his family.”
Kaylee teased, “Mom, you have some experience in this field, huh? Is that how you pursued my dad
back then?”
Skyler paused, lips pursed, and said, “Don’t talk nonsense. Just get the medicine to Celeste.”
Kaylee pouted, “Okay, I got it.”
On the other hand, after getting in the car, Valeria started talking to Clyde about today’s events.
