Lily returned to her hotel shortly after.
Too many things had happened in the Lodge family residence over the past three days. She felt traces
of her childhood and Wilfred’s shadow everywhere when she stayed with the Lodge family residence
and could not help but feel upset.
She used to think there was an estrangement between herself and Wilfred, that their relationship was
not that strong. However, now that her grandfather had passed away, she realized she was missing
him.
Lily's parents passed away when she was a child, so she grew up with her grandfather. She resented
Wilfred because she thought he was always too strict. She only realized when she grew up that her
grandfather did whatever was necessary for her good.
Lily would have injured herself numerous times without his care. However, her grandfather would never
return now. She wanted to avenge her grandfather, but after all her efforts, she only got the result of
"natural death.” She did not even have the chance to avenge Wilfred.
"Still not sleeping?" After taking a shower, Alexander saw Lily sitting in a daze on the bed.
Her legs were bending as her hands wrapped around her legs. Her chin was resting on her knees, and
her eyes looked straight ahead without any expression.
Alexander felt upset seeing his wife in this state. He had never seen Lily so absent-minded since they
met. She had never felt so helpless, even when she had trouble with Nathaniel or went to Alexander in
desperation to make a “deal.”
Alexander wiped his hair with a large towel, sat down next to the bed, put one hand over Lily’s
shoulder, pulled her into his arms, and let her lean on his shoulder.
"This result might be a good ending for you and the Lodge family.”
He also received the news and was very surprised. After all, everyone had been investigating this case
for so long, and the clues pointing toward the murderer had never stopped, but they did not expect it to
end up this way.
Looking back, Henry probably just wanted to use Wilfred's death to set off a storm and seize power, but
it was not him who poisoned Wilfred. So, from another point of view, at least Henry did not murder his
father. At least, it was not that cruel for Wilfred.
Of course, Lily understood this, but there was a difference between understanding and sadness.
Human emotions were more challenging to control.
"By the way, I saw a bruise on your arm. What happened?" Alexander pulled her arm over as he said,
trying to pull up the sleeves of her clothes.
Lily shrank her hand and avoided him grabbing it. Still, she could not avoid him and was already in pain
when Alexander pulled her like this. She hissed, "Ouch..."
“Does it hurt?" Alexander was even more nervous now. He pulled up her sleeves involuntarily and saw
the mark on her arms. It looked like a bruise, but fortunately, there was no torn skin or broken bones. It
was as if Lily had merely bumped into something, so Alexander felt relieved. Even so, he dialed the
hotel concierge’s number and asked someone to bring a first-aid kit for Lily's bruises.
Lily did not refuse it and let Alexander be.
After a while, the hotel staff brought the first-aid kit up to them. Alexander sat down again with the first-
aid kit and carefully rubbed some medicine on her bruises.
Lily lowered her head and looked at the bruise on her arm. She knew the injury was from her fight
against the Light-Shadow Killers at the Lodge family residence. As for when she got it, she had no
idea.
