Furthermore, Damian would treat Nathaniel as his enemy because the latter had a close relationship
with Arianna. Damian planned to work his way through Tanner Corporation and finally take control of
the entire company.
Then he would bring his mother back to the Tanner family’s residence and include her in the family
register. In the future, they would be the ones who lead the Tanner family.
When it came to Arianna, Damian would financially provide for her and Eloise if he was in a good
mood. If he were not, he would kick them out of the house.
Damian could not accept how he and his mother had suffered for many years. Since he was born, he
was someone that his parents were embarrassed by. However, Arianna and Eloise could enjoy their
lives in the Tanner family’s residence. He believed he should be the one in charge of the entire family
because he was the first son of their father.
Nathaniel smiled faintly and got up to his feet.
“You're mistaken.”
Then he walked toward Damian, lit a cigarette, and handed it over. He closed the door unhurriedly and
finally said, “Everyone knows you're the one in charge of this project now, and all of us can see how
hard you've worked for it.”
“You've recruited the perfumers, decided on the project plan, details of the manufacturing process, and
even the targeted sales volume of the product. All of that is the result of your hard work, and no one
can take the credit from you.”
How Nathaniel spoke politely made Damian feel comfortable and valued. Hence, his demeanor
changed, and he was not as bossy and domineering as he was before. He received the cigarette, took
a puff, and then squinted his eyes at Nathaniel.
“You're smart! I hope that’s how you truly feel! ”
Nathaniel sat next to Damian, appearing to be currying favor with the latter. “I can assure you that it's
my genuine thoughts! Everyone in the company knows you're the future owner of Tanner Corporation.”
“Mr. Derrick'’s son is not capable enough. He's missing right now, while it has been some time since Mr.
Derrick came to the office. Once you've completed this project, I'm sure you'll get promoted to at least
the company’s vice president! Why would I make my life difficult by going against you?”
His words made Damian grin. He wanted to suppress his joy, but he could not stop the corners of his
lips from curving upward.
Cheerfully, he replied, “Hey, let's stay low-key about this! Low- key, all right? It hasn't been decided yet,
so don't say that so openly! Be careful that someone else might be listening in on us.”
“Oh, right! You're indeed the most thoughtful person I've ever met! ” Nathaniel nodded fervently, looking
obedient and ready to do anything for Damian.
At this point, Damian had utterly let his guard down. He did not feel as annoyed as he did with
Nathaniel anymore.
“By the way, is what you said earlier for real? Is Mr. Derrick’s son missing?”
Although Joseph adored Damian, he did not tell his son much about the family’s matters. Hence,
Damian knew about the structure of the family and the relationship between its members, but he had
only visited Derrick’s house a few times.
Damian went over once when Joseph brought him back to the family. In his impression, Derrick was
stern and hostile and treated him without favoritism or discrimination. During his visit, Derrick nodded
and asked Damian a few questions, but after that, they had no further communication.
His subconscious mind stopped him from getting closer to Derrick and his house. As for Benedict,
Damian had never seen him before.
“Well, I'm not too sure about that. It’s just rumors I hear around me. Think about this, though. Mr.
Derrick’s son rarely came to the company over the last few years. Even if he were to come back now,
you've already completed the project and contributed greatly to the company. How could he compare to
you? The employees of the company will be on your side! ”
Damian felt that Nathaniel’s words were reasonable. With just a few words exchanged, he had already
regarded Nathaniel as someone on his team.
