“No, it's fine. I'm sure they'll be here soon,” Arissa replied.
When she realized Benjamin was staring at her, she couldn't help but avert her gaze.
“Why are you looking at me?” she asked shyly.
A glint of mischief flashed across Benjamin's eyes as he curled his lips into a smile.
“Why not? It's been a long while since I feasted my eyes on you.”
Still blushing, Arissa gave the man a coquettish glare.
“Didn't you just see me this morning?”
“That's not enough!” Benjamin grumbled before pinching Arissa's face, eliciting a snicker from her.
With Arissa looking a lot cheerier, Benjamin, too, felt more at ease.
“Would you like some water?”
“Yes, please!”
Immediately after, Benjamin filled Arissa's cup with water and sipped it to check the temperature. “Ah.
It's a little hot.”
“In that case, I'll drink it later!” Arissa said before catching a glimpse of the man's shoes.
Huh? Why are Benjamin's shoes dirty? That's odd... He has always been a bit of a clean freak, so how
could he not have noticed the mud on his shoes?
“Did you come from the office?”
Benjamin raised his brows as he met Arissa's gaze.
“Yes. What's the matter?”
Oh, dear... There isn't any reason for her to know, though, is there?
Arissa scrutinized Benjamin, still unsure if the latter was lying to her.
The next second, she pointed at his shoes. “How did you get mud on them?”
It didn't rain today, so where could the mud have come from? Did he go somewhere else?
Benjamin chuckled, a glint in his eye. “Oh, this! I accidentally dirtied my shoes while playing golf with a
friend. Unfortunately, I was in a rush to return to the office, so I didn't have time to clean them.”
Despite the explanation, Arissa remained skeptical.
Benjamin quickly changed into slippers and instructed one of his bodyguards to send the leather shoes
for cleaning.
With that, he decided to change the subject. “Has Shaun come over to give you the injection?”
Arissa shook her head. “No. I haven't seen him all afternoon.”
Benjamin nodded before bringing the glass of water from earlier to her.
“Here you go. You can drink it now.”
Without further ado, Arissa chugged the water down in one gulp. “Oh. I need to use the restroom
again.”
“I'll carry you there.”
“Okay!”
Afraid that Benjamin might be worried about her, Arissa waited obediently to be carried.
As always, Benjamin picked her up without breaking a sweat and strode toward the restroom.
“How do you use the restroom when I'm not around?”
For a moment, Arissa didn't know whether to laugh or cry.
“I call the nurse!”
Gosh. Doesn't he know there are bedpans available?
Benjamin nodded and grinned at her. “Good. How obedient of you!”
Speechless, Arissa pinched the man's arm.
“Hey! When have I not been obedient?”
Upon hearing that, Benjamin couldn't help but let out a hearty chortle.
Just like that, he stayed in the ward with Arissa and fed her fruits until she began to nod off.
This is it. I can use the chance to look for Shaun.
“Take a nap if you're tired. I'll wake you up when the kids are here. Meanwhile, I'll go look for Shaun.”
“Okay!”
Once Benjamin had tucked Arissa into bed, he waited till she dozed off before leaving the ward.
With Tim's condition still weighing on his mind, he instructed his bodyguard to watch over Arissa and
made a beeline for the emergency room.
Fortunately, Arissa was fast asleep and knew nothing about her son's hospitalization.
Meanwhile, Zachary had ended a phone call with Gavin and the others when he saw his father walking
toward him.
“Why are you here? What if Mommy finds out?”
Benjamin glanced at his son. “I only left after she had fallen asleep.”
Despite that, Zachary peeked behind the man and only heaved a sigh of relief when he was sure his
mother wasn't around.
“How's Tim?”
“Tim's doing a lot better,” Zachary reported. “The rashes on his face aren't as red and inflamed as
before.”
Benjamin nodded and walked into the ward, with Zachary following close behind.
Needless to say, Kingsley and Shaun, too, were shocked to see the man. “Didn't we tell you to
accompany Arissa? Why have you come back?”
“I'm still worried about Tim. Has his fever gone down?” Benjamin asked as he turned to Shaun.
After all, he was only interested in knowing about his son's condition.
