“You can rest easy now, huh?” Benjamin teased at the sight of Arissa sitting there with a loving smile
on her face as she reminisced about the time she talked to Tim on the phone.
Jerking her head up, Arissa bore her eyes into him. “Why is it that I feel you're very much afraid of me
calling the kids?”
“Am I?” Benjamin countered without any change in expression.
Arissa narrowed her eyes and stared at him intently.
“Yes!”
Nonetheless, Benjamin met her gaze calmly, showing nary a hint of guilt.
A sliver of doubt crept into Arissa. Hmm? Could it be that I'm overthinking things, and it was a figment
of my imagination?
Nevertheless, she still wanted to try tricking him into revealing something.
With certainty written all over her face, she demanded, “Is there something you're hiding from me,
Benjamin?”
Benjamin quirked a brow. His gaze was unfathomable and tinged with a trace of insouciance.
“What could I be hiding from you?”
Arissa harrumphed, looking incredibly cute with her cheeks puffed up.
Benjamin's gaze darkened even as his Adam's apple bobbed. He pinched her cheek with his long and
slender fingers.
Shooting him a glare, Arissa pouted.
“Stop acting innocent! You must be hiding something from me!”
Benjamin's eyes flickered, and he was torn between amusement and exasperation.
“I'm not acting.”
Arissa pinned her gaze on him, looking straight into his eyes.
His tapered eyes were indecipherable and mesmerizing.
As she stared at him, her heart started racing.
Blinking, she calmly averted her gaze.
A smile curved Benjamin's lips. He leaned down and placed his arms on both sides of her body,
promptly enveloping her in his embrace.
The unique musk emanating off him was indescribably seductive.
Arissa could seemingly hear her own heartbeat loud and clear.
“Have I ever lied to you?”
Solemnity was etched across Benjamin's handsome features.
A blush stained Arissa's cheeks, and she muttered, “Who knows!”
Mirth bubbled within Benjamin. Verily, it's not that easy to fool her.
He could not resist venturing, “What would you do if I lied to you?”
Upon hearing that, Arissa gaped at him. “Aha! Look, you've admitted to lying to me! Spit it out! What
have you been lying about?”
She shot daggers at him, feeling as though she had caught him out.
Benjamin was startled for a moment. The corners of his mouth twitched at her thrilled look.
Pinching her nose, he teased, “How excitable!”
Arissa pulled his hand off, her voice soft and threaded with coquettishness.
“So, did you lie to me?”
Benjamin regarded her with merriment dancing in his eyes. “What do you think?”
In that instant, Arissa could not tell whether he had lied to her as he was just too skilled at schooling his
expression.
“How mean of you!” she huffed.
Benjamin ruffled her hair with a sense of helplessness. “I said no, but you didn't believe me. Would you
only believe if I were to answer in the affirmative?”
At that, Arissa snorted.
Delight danced in Benjamin's eyes as he gazed at her. I simply love her adorable little tantrums!
Arissa sensed his scorching gaze on her, upon which her eyes flickered briefly.
“Hurry up and go take a shower!”
“It's still early.”
Benjamin's eyes lingered on her, making her heart pound wildly.
The man then added, “Why should I shower so early when you haven't done so?”
He leaned down until his nose rested against hers, stopping only when he was an inch away from
kissing her.
Arissa turned her face to the side. The man's breath hit her face, making it tingle all over.
Shifting her gaze back, she fixed her eyes on his handsome countenance that was right before her
eyes.
Benjamin toyed with her for a while before straightening and sitting down on the edge of the bed.
“Do you want to go downstairs for a stroll?”
Arissa eyed him for a heartbeat before glancing out the window. In truth, there was nothing in sight
from the window upstairs.
“Don't you have any more work?”
“Keeping you company is more important!”
Getting to his feet, Benjamin maneuvered the wheelchair over and locked it in place beside the bed.
Only after doing that did he carry her to the wheelchair.
He was away in the afternoon, so Arissa had been cooped up in the hospital room until then. Honestly,
she was pretty bored.
Well, I suppose going out for a stroll is quite a good idea!
Benjamin snagged a thin blanket and draped it over her before wheeling her out.
“Mr. Graham, Mrs. Graham!” the bodyguards at the door greeted upon seeing the couple.
Thereafter, they made to follow at the back.
“You guys don't need to tag along. Take a break. We'll be in the hospital,” Benjamin ordered.
