“Ah! It hurts!”
Darius could hear Julian's piercing scream before even entering the ward.
Arching a brow, Darius thought to himself, Looks like he's doing fine since he has so much energy to
shout at the top of his lungs.
“Be gentle, for he's injured all over. How can he bear the pain when you lot treat him with such force?”
Crystal felt very distressed and scolded the nurse.
“Sorry, Mrs. Graham. We've been very careful.” The nurses apologized profusely to the family
members of their boss, whom they could not afford to offend.
“I don't think you are being careful enough. Do you wish to see me break my bones again?” bellowed
Julian. Why do I have to be abused by these nurses at the hospital after being beaten up at home?
“I can see that you're alive and kicking. I doubt you will die from breaking a few more bones!” Darius
cast a glance at both the mother and son while leaving them with a sarcastic remark.
“What the... Is this how you should treat a patient? How dare you curse me? I want to file a c-complaint
—” Julian lashed out at the person as he looked in his direction. When he finally saw who that person
was, he trembled in fear and started stuttering.
Holding a cane, Darius stood right in front of him. Even though Darius had aged, his imposing aura
warned anyone from the younger generation from acting insolently.
Darius' sharp gaze could terrify Julian to the point where he might bite off his tongue out of fear.
“Why are you here, Grandpa?”
Darius scoffed, “Are you going to continue throwing your weight around here if I hadn't come here any
sooner?”
“No, Dad. Please have a seat. Julian is in a bad mood only because he's injured. Please don't take it
personally.” Crystal carried a chair over for Darius to rest his legs.
However, Darius ignored her completely. His gaze was fixated on Julian as he questioned, “You wanted
to file a complaint against the nurses, right? You can tell me directly if there's anything you're not
satisfied with. Why do you want to make things difficult for them?”
The nurses gave Darius a grateful look upon hearing that. They then silently focused on their work.
“Grandpa, I blew a fuse just now to scare them. I didn't really mean to make a complaint.” Julian
suppressed his anger and behaved himself, no longer daring to make a scene in the presence of
Darius.
“If you feel that this is not a good hospital, you don't have to get yourself treated here. There are plenty
of hospitals in Dellmoor that can treat you,” Darius chided frostily.
Instantly, the expressions on Julian's and Crystal's faces changed drastically.
They would usually visit that hospital for medical treatment, and today was no exception. A second
option did not even cross their minds because the hospital owned by the Grahams had the most
innovative medical systems.
“Dad... Julian has already been beaten into a pulp. There's no guarantee he will receive the best care
should we go elsewhere. Staying here at our own hospital gives us the assurance that we're getting the
best treatment,” Crystal explained carefully to Darius. She was afraid to get kicked out because of a
wrong word uttered by her son.
Darius observed that apart from the cast on Julian's limbs and the gauze that bandaged his face, there
were no major injuries on other parts of his body. He had some cuts and abrasions but was otherwise
fine.
“Oh, so now you know that your own family is good? Why did that never cross your mind when you
kidnapped Tim and Zachary?” Darius glared at Julian, livid.
A few days had passed since the incident, yet Darius had not approached Julian about the matter. With
that, Julian felt lucky and assumed that Darius did not know what he had done. Now, he felt guilty and
uneasy when being questioned.
“What are you talking about, Dad? Why would Julian kidnap them? Could it be that someone framed
him? Is it all a misunderstanding?” Crystal was shocked to the core and instinctively defended her son.
Darius turned sideways and shot her a death stare. “Why don't you ask your son if this is just a
misunderstanding?” he reprimanded.
Darius thought about how the lives of his precious great-grandchildren were threatened and how they
had nearly died in Julian's hands. The thoughts triggered him to swing his cane and slam it harshly on
Julian's body.
“I pity the Graham family for having an unfilial grandson like you!”
New injuries were added to Julian's existing wounds, causing him even more pain and making him feel
dizzy at that instant.
Crystal did not expect Darius to lay a finger on Julian, let alone with such force. She froze for a second
before dashing over to hug Julian.
“Dad, you're going to kill Julian if you continue hitting him! Please stop!”
