The Padilla family lived in Marina Cove in Riverton. Marina Cove was a residential area set up by the
Riverton government for displaced residents, where each family enjoyed the comfort of a private villa.
Among these relocated folks, some raked in annual dividends of millions. Their daily lives were filled
with city–hopping, overseas vacations, and by the end of the year, their dough still hadn’t run out, and it
was already time to cash in on dividends again.
That was why Marina Cove was jokingly referred to as “the richest village without jobs.”
The Padilla family also hung their hats here. Their crib was right at the entrance of the village. A mere
300 meters to the right after entering the village, and bam, there was their villa.
Ayden rang the doorbell, and the one to answer was Roman.
As soon as the door opened, his fist swung towards Roman like a sandbag, with such speed that
Roman couldn’t even see who the person was before getting two teeth knocked out.
Next thing he knew, he was lifted off his feet by two muscular arms and dropped hard on the ground.
Every bone in his body aching, he stammered in panic, “Who the hell are you? You know who you just
punched?”
Ayden brushed him off and respectfully guided Cornelia forward, “Ma’am, I’ve given the guy you
wanted to hit a good whack. Happy with the results? If not, I can break a couple of his legs for you.”
Cornelia took a step forward, looking down at Roman who was struggling in pain on the ground, and
said, ‘Roman, consider this a wake–up call. If you dare cross me again, not only will I make life a living
hell for the entire Padilla family, but I’ll also have you booted out of Riverton. Forever.”
Roman, despite his pain, put on a brave face, “Kick the Padilla family out of Riverton? Ha…Cornelia,
just because you’ve got Marcus in your pocket, you think you can do whatever you want?”
As he spoke, he spat out a mouthful of blood before continuing, “Cornelia, don’t get ahead of yourself.
It’s a long road ahead. You better pray Marcus stays interested in you, or else…”
Comelia cut him off with a laugh, “My husband and I are doing just fine, thank you very much. We don’t
need you worrying about us.”
Roman suddenly chuckled, “You came looking for me because you think I’m the one posting stuff about
you online? Let me tell you, those pictures of you on the internet, I had nothing to do with them. Ha…
you’ll never know who did.”
Cornelia retorted, “The next one on my list is Clair.”
Roman was taken aback, “How do you know?”
How did this woman know everything? She didn’t seem that bright. Was Marcus handling everything for
her?
Cornelia simply said, “How do I know? I know more than you can imagine. Better not be up to no good
behind my back, or else your family will pay the price.”
The commotion outside caught the attention of those inside. Sabrina was the first to rush out. Seeing
two strangers in her yard, she then spotted her son Roman writhing in agony on the ground.
She was livid, charging at Cornelia like a lunatic, “Who the hell are you, barging into my home and
attacking my son?”
“You don’t even know me, yet you and your son went to the Hartley family spewing lies about me.”
Faced with the raging Sabrina, Cornelia stood her ground, her gaze sharp and resolute.
