In no time at all, they had reached Nanette’s dressing room. Mr. Malcom, the deputy director, led
Estelle in, grinning widely “Ms Waldo,” he announced, ‘meet your new assistant, Estelle She’s a bit new

quite shy”
Nanette looked at Malcom with a sarcastic smile “Why the sudden interest in an assistant, Mr

In the dressing room, two other assistants were helping Nanette get ready for the shoot. Nanette threw
a glance towards Estelle “Don’t just stand there. Fetch me some water. I’m parched”
Complying. Estelle took Nanette’s cup and filled it with warm water, bringing it back to Nanette with a
straw and placing it on the table
Nanette took a quick sip and abruptly placed the cup back on the table. This is too hot. I prefer it cold,”
she declared
Estelle went out and quickly returned with a bowl of ice, pouring it all into Nanette’s cup
Nanette frowned. “I just remembered that my period is about to start, I can’t be drinking cold water. Go
change it to something hot!”
The other two assistants knew Nanette was intentionally giving Estelle a hard time, but they simply
watched with glee, saying nothing
Estelle didn’t say anything either, she took the iced water away and quickly returned with another cup
of hot water.
Nanette took a sip. blew out from her mouth, “How am I supposed to drink this?! You might be new to
the assistant gig, but have you no common sense? You wanna scald me to death?”
Estelle looked at her, “Do we know each other?”
Nanette was confused, “What do you mean?”
Estelle’s expression was indifferent. Tm just wondering why you’re giving me a hard time?”
Nanette scoffed disdainfully. “Who are you anyway? I don’t have the energy to pick on someone
irrelevant like you. I just have high demands for my assistants” Estelle nodded and said nothing, turning
away to get her water
At this moment, a staff member came over asking Nanette if she was ready for the shoot.
Nanette got up and walked to the set. No need to rush torturing Estelle, there was plenty of time for
that!
When Nanette left to shoot, Estelle went to handle her own work.
At lunchtime, Nanette refused to eat the crew’s meal, saying it was too greasy. She insisted Estelle go
out and buy her a steak and corn juice.
Estelle braved the cold to get Nanette’s lunch. After heating it up, she put it in a white porcelain plate as
Nanette requested, and prepared the knife and fork.
Nanette was eating with Yvonne and Hattie. Unhappy with Estelle, she complained, “Why’d you take so
long? I’m starving!”
Estelle put down the plate. Nanette frowned and grumbled, “Just one? Yvonne and Hattie are here too.
You expect me to be the only one eating? Can’t you think before acting?
Yvonne, smiling, interjected, “No need, I’m fine with the crew meal!”
Hattie glanced at Estelle, her lips curving into a smile as well, “Don’t blame Estelle. It’s freezing outside,
and she’s had a tough time!”
Nanette dismissively replied, “Isn’t this her job? If she isn’t working, why’s she getting paid?”
Ectelle’s expression remained calm, “Anything else you need?”
