Jonathan Lamont caught Estelle Macclain’s gaze, looked where she was looking, subtly positioned
himself to block her view, and said reassuringly, “Don’t sweat it, Charlie isn’t into that Waters.”
Waters had been chasing Charlie for two years now. If Charlie was really into her, they would’ve been
together ages ago.
Estelle lowered her head and calmly replied, “Not liking someone doesn’t mean they can’t have a
pleasant conversation.”
Jonathan quickly made his stance clear, “I’ve never done such a thing.”
“Really?” Estelle raised an eyebrow, her gaze turning slightly cold, “Your pictures with Gwen are still on
the internet.”
Jonathan said with a hint of complaint, “You never came back after all these years.”
Estelle was taken aback, and she looked into Jonathan’s eyes, feeling a surge of emotions in her heart.
She turned her head away and calmly said, “That’s not why I came back!”
“I know, you don’t miss me at all.” Jonathan’s voice was low, tinged with a hint of self-mockery.
Estelle took a sip of her drink, and after a while, she quietly asked, “Have you touched her?”
Jonathan chuckled softly, “Finally decided to ask, huh?”
Blushing slightly, she looked at the bonfire, “If you don’t want to talk about it, you don’t have to.”
“No!” Jonathan held her hand tightly, looking at her earnestly, “I never had any contact with her. The
photo of us you saw online, that’s the closest we’ve ever been.”
Estelle didn’t speak, just furrowed her brow.
Jonathan looked at her and laughed, “Feeling better?”
Estelle raised an eyebrow, calmly replying, “We were broken up then. Even if you got a new girlfriend,
it’s none of my business.”
“When did we ever break up?” Jonathan smiled at her.
Jonathan watched Estelle deep in thought, and took a slow sip of his drink, his lips curling up in a smirk
of satisfaction.
Marina handed her some food, which Estelle ate with her while listening to the music.
More and more people joined the bonfire party, Estelle soon spotted Freddy, who came with his
girlfriend.
Freddy hadn’t been seated long before he noticed Marina.
Marina was wearing a white T-shirt, with a deep blue plaid shawl draped over her shoulders. She was
sitting cross-legged on the ground, chatting with the people beside her. She appeared lively and
adorable, completely different from when she was with Freddy.
Marina noticed the gaze from across the bonfire. Maybe it was an instinctive reaction, her body tensed
up involuntarily, and she reached for her drink.
As Carson’s sharp gaze scanned the scene, he moved closer to Marina, smiled and asked, “Is that the
guy you’ve been pining for?”
Marina shot him a glance, “None of your business!”
“You’re my fiancée, how can it not be my business?” Carson laughed, then looked at Freddy and his
girlfriend, a sly glint in his eyes, “Need any help?”
Marina looked at him in surprise, “What are you planning?”
