Madelyn often had trouble sleeping in a new or unfamiliar bed. She did not sleep well that night,
drifting in and out of consciousness.
Madelyn had just gotten out of bed after the wake up call for the room came. Then, she noticed that
Jane had already freshened up and done her hair in front of the vanity mirror at some point Madelyn
sat on the bed with dark circles under her eyes and seemed not well–rested.
Jane looked at her through the mirror, reminding her, “Don’t forget your registration at the Paris Art

come out.

directly. She can handle herself.”

“They probably went straight to the studio after breakfast.”
“Okay.” Madelyn was not a person who liked to trouble others.
Clement was somewhat reserved and deliberately maintained a safe distance from Madelyn in the
elevator. When they reached the hotel’s entrance, Jane and Dorian had just finished eating and
descending in the elevator. They saw Madelyn and Clement getting into a long–wheelbase Bugatti. The
hotel’s doorman closed the car door, and the car left when they walked out.

lucked out.”
Shielding his eyes from the sunlight, he continued, “Jane, how are we going to get there? I asked, and
the destination was about twenty to thirty kilometers away from us.”
