“Zach,” Cecilia called out. She was dressed in a shawl and pencil skirt with a diamond–encrusted bag
in her hand. She stood out brilliantly In the hotel lobby. She continued to stare at Zach coldly as he left.
He had ignored Cecilia even though she walked past him.
The hotel arranged for a chauffeur to send them to the hospital. Madelyn, who was sitting in the car,
suddenly felt cold. Zach held onto her hand and found a blanket to cover her.
“It’s so cold,” Madelyn said.
Zach used his fingers to swipe her sweat–drenched hair to the side. He then comforted her, “It’s fine.
We’re almost at the hospital.”
An unknown emotion suddenly erupted from his chest. It was a feeling of panic he had never felt
before.
After they reached the hospital, Madelyn was given an IV drip. She then opened her eyes. “Dr.
Jensen…”
Joey Jensen said to her, “You’re finally awake.”
“Your boyfriend is downstairs paying for your fees. Does he know about your condition, Madelyn?
You’re currently in terrible condition. You’ll need to stay in the hospital for treatment. With the current
level of medical care, we can still cure this,” Joey explained.
Joey was her attending physician. Madelyn had not been to a hospital for quite some time and did not
expect Zach to bring her to this particular hospital. Madelyn weakly grabbed his lab coat and said,
“Don’t tell him, please? I beg of you.”
Joey advised her with resignation, “Madelyn, you really need to stay here for treatment. You’re my
patient, and I must take responsibility for you.”
Madelyn said, “I will, but not now. Just give me a bit more time, okay?”
“I give up. All I can say as a doctor is, it’s your body and you need to cherish it,” Joey said.
“Thank you,” Madelyn thanked him and released her grip. However, she still felt a tightness in her
chest.
When Zach inquired about Madelyn’s condition, Joey lied about her actual condition. He told Zach, “It’s
caused by a lack of nutrition, in addition to her frall constitution. She must have her meals daily and try
her best to not exhaust herself. She needs to focus on resting.”
Zach thanked him. “Thank you.”
Joey took a few steps before stopping. He turned around and warned him, “Try to be gentler next time
when having intercourse. She’s too frail for this.”
“Mmm,” Zach grunted.
Zach went into the sick ward with a bag of medicine to help her rebuild her constitution. He placed it by
her bedside drawer and said, “You can tell me if you feel any discomfort.”
His voice was gentler than usual, but Madelyn did not answer. Zach knew that she was already awake.
“I had Kevin pack some oatmeal from Churchill Street. He’ll be sending it here very soon,” Zach said.
“Stop sulking.” Zach continued. “I… won’t force myself on you anymore.”
Madelyn opened her eyes and said. “Then let me leave.” Her voice was barely a whisper.
‘Madelyn… I’ve gone through hell just to get you,” Zach told her. (1
“Then what do you want from me!? You already have someone else by your side. Why do you keep
treating me this way? I just don’t understand!” Madelyn screamed.
“You’ll understand eventually…” Zach explained.
“I don’t want to understand it. You’re supposed to hate me, Zach. You stayed with the Jent family just
for revenge, right?!” Madelyn shouted.
Zach held her hand and said. “I’ve said this before: people will change.” (1)
“So….” Madelyn turned her head to the side and said, “You’ve been doing all this to me because…
Don’t tell me you like me?”
