Cured Of Mania
Cedrick stared at Gwendolyn with resentment in his ebony eyes. “I didn’t. I merely think that I need to
do some self-reflection on why my wife is gaming with another woman after dinner while leaving me to
sleep alone.”
“Huh?” Gwendolyn eyed him strangely.
What does he mean by alone? Am I not right here?
After giving careful consideration to her words, she chose to sweet-talk him. “Didn’t we agree on not
having any intense workout tonight? Can’t I even game?”
Cedrick cast a surreptitious glance at her phone screen and saw that her teammate had already sent
her a question mark as she remained motionless behind a bush.
“I’m not saying that we must have some intense workout. But… gaming and keeping me company are
not mutually exclusive. Your gaming expert of a husband is right beside you, but you’re gaming with
Treyton’s fiancée. Do you think that’s appropriate, Gwenny?”
When Gwendolyn heard the sound of a notification indicating that her in-game teammate had sent her
a message, she perfunctorily murmured in response. Then, she lowered her eyes and continued
gaming.
Cedrick heaved a sigh. He shifted the Lego pieces to face her in the most conspicuous spot where she
could see them from the corner of her eye and could not ignore them even if she wanted to.
“It’s my problem that you’re unwilling to keep me company, In this case, I’ll kneel on the Lego pieces for
however long you game, Darling.” His voice was ever so mournful.
“No, don’t do that!”
Gwendolyn shot her hands out before he could drop to his knees, placing her palms on the edges of
the Lego pieces and effectively stopping him from kneeling on them.
In the face of the man’s tantrum and his pitiful yet aggrieved gaze, she relented and coaxed, “I won’t
start another game with Jennifer after finishing this round. You can game instead, and I’ll play support
for you. How about that?”
Cedrick knew that it was the furthest he could push his luck since finishing a game that had already
started was a fundamental principle in gaming.
“Okay. I’ll wait for you, Darling.”
“Quick, put them back into the wardrobe.” Gwendolyn pointed at the Lego pieces. “Don’t take them out
to blackmail me anymore.”
Having no desire for his knees to be bruised by the Lego pieces, Cedrick swiftly threw them back into
the wardrobe.
He sat behind her with his arms around her waist, watching quietly as she finished the game. As the in-
game victory announcement rang out, Gwendolyn’s fingers flew across the keyboard. She told Jennifer
that she could not continue gaming with her and urged her to sleep earlier. Getting his wish, Cedrick
logged in to the game and took Jennifer’s place.
A few minutes later, his phone dinged with a WhatsApp message notification.
It was from Treyton.
There was only a single word in the chat box, and it read: Master.
Cedrick’s lips curved into a devilish smirk. Evil to the core, he resolutely replied: Good boy.
Disregarding the possibility that the man might blow a fuse after reading that message, he logged out
of WhatsApp and focused on gaming with his wife before sleep.
It was a wonderful night at Harrick Villa.
On the contrary, it was exceedingly tormenting for Xander, who was in a detention cell at the Federal
Bureau of Investigation.
Even when night fell, Raoul and the others refused to allow him a sip of the water an officer had
delivered sometime in the day.
Worse still, they disdained the strong metallic stench of blood on him and locked him in the toilet.
Xander wished for nothing more than to pass out right then and there. If that happened, he would be
sent to the medical room for treatment and at least have a breather.
Unfortunately, none of the injuries on him hit vital organs. They were merely immensely painful yet not
fatal. He remained as sober as ever and could only endure the waves of excruciating agony coursing
through him.
His expensive gold-rimmed glasses had been snapped by Raoul. Suffering from acute short-
sightedness, he grew even more fearful when he could not see clearly.
The foul smell in the toilet was also assailing his sanity relentlessly, challenging his endurance toward
it.
Under such circumstances, he could not sleep at all. Even the act of breathing had pain rack his entire
body.
All he could do was curl up in a corner, keeping as far as possible a distance from the filthy and smelly
toilet bowl.
He clamped his hands over his mouth and nose. Despite the physical pain, he dared not make a
sound, afraid it would trigger another beating from Raoul.
Never had he been so pathetic and wretched. Yet, he had then been picked on by Raoul and the
others. Such aggravation swamped him that he was on the verge of tears.
Suddenly, he regretted giving in to Paul’s instigation and attempting to feed his grandfather food that
would be fatal if eaten together while Cedrick was away on a business trip, capitalizing on the
opportunity to usurp the latter’s authority in the family.
IT hadn’t done that, Cedrick wouldn’t have arrested me, would he? I would’ve still been able to stay at
home and enjoy life as a wealthy heir. No, that isn’t right. He’s no easy prey and would never have let
me off the hook. Only by making the first move would Dad and I have the opportunity to turn the tables
in the Jenson family and obtain the right to call the shots. In all this, the problem lies in why he returned
so timely on the day Grandpa was meant to have an accident while I failed to succeed sooner. There’s
no two ways about it-he must die!
He trembled violently. His tender skin stretched taut, and every pore on his body screamed with
In the next second, he turned into a ravenous wolf. He resolutely flipped over and pinned her under
him, keeping her locked in his arms. “Since you’re unwilling to give me a kiss, I’ll claim it myself.”
Pressing his thin lips against hers, he overwhelmed her with kisses. It was as though he wanted to
stamp his mark all over her body domineeringly.
Like a ferocious beast, he marked his territory, allowing no one else to invade it. He was overbearing
and did not allow her to break free.
The intense kiss made Gwendolyn’s head spin. A sweet atmosphere lingered in the air, making her feel
as though she was intoxicated.
Placing her hand against the man’s forehead, she pushed him away. “Stop messing around. I’m being
serious with you here.”
Cedrick knew it was time for him to cease since he would only infuriate his wife if he were to persist. He
obediently lay down at the side.
“You indeed didn’t have a manic episode last night, Gwenny. I held you in my arms and slept right
through the night.”
Following that confirmation, sheer delight washed over Gwendolyn.
This is good news!
“Am I cured of mania now, Hubby? Then, we can pick Benny and Zendy up from Grandpa’s place with
peace of mind.”
