Recalling past events filled Joshua with remorse. In a somewhat hoarse voice, he slowly uttered, “I am
sorry.”
Cynthia and Yoel both shared an expression of synchronized confusion.
Mustering his courage, Yoel questioned, “Mr. Neal… what was that?”

“Could you hold your tongue?” Joshua retorted, finding Yoel lately a bit overbearing
Yoel promptly zipped his mouth, kept a smile, and refrained from speaking further. Meanwhile, Cynthia
was awaiting Joshua’s

“I was investigating something from the past, which led me to the incident today. So, I came up,”
Joshua fabricated, trying to sound convincing.
Cynthia continued to gaze at him.
You do not believe me? Joshua queried.
“I don’t,” she declared succinctly, causing discomfort in Joshua.
However, his thoughts drifted toward his reaction upon being disbelieved and how Cynthia must have
felt when he treated. her the same way before. No wonder she detested him so much. If he were in her
place, he would never want to see the person again in his lifetime.
“What I told is the truth. Let’s head back to my place first. We can discuss further there,” Joshua
attempted to distract Cynthia from his investigation of Moe.
“If you really just stumbled upon it, you wouldn’t have spoken to Moe in that way, nor have you asked
Yoel to call the police Were you investigating Moe?”
Suppose Joshua had come across the matter by following a trail of clues. In that case, his approach
should have been to directly take Moe into custody and interrogate him about the person behind
everything. However, Joshua’s initial reaction was full of hostility toward Moe. His behavior, actions,
and responses did not align..
“Why would anyone Investigate Moe? Yoel, though puzzled, could not help but speak out
Cynthia observed his reaction with full attention.
Was Yoel in the dark?
“I haven’t been investigating him. If you don’t believe me, you can look into it yourself. With your skills,
it shouldn’t be a difficult task,” Joshua denied.
“Under normal circumstances, it wouldn’t be. However, if you were to use your hidden resources, I
might not be able to find the truth,” Cynthia retorted, not believing him in the slightest. She was certain
that he was investigating Moe.
Joshua had many resources at his disposal, as she had always known. Some things could not be
found just by using a computer.
Joshua looked at her with deep–set eyes. “Am I that untrustworthy to you?”
“Where do you get the confidence to talk about trust when you’re the one lying?” Cynthia shut back at
him.
Even though he had indeed lied, seeing the obvious distrust and alienation in Cynthia’s eyes was
uncomfortable for him. It felt like there were numerous needles piercing his heart.
“I don’t care why you’re investigating Moe, but I don’t want you interfering in my business with him,”
Cynthia said.
She did not want their next plan to be ruined again, nor did she want to be involved with Joshua. She
was not afraid that Joshua would target Moe. If it came to that, the entire Arch International Group
would be backing Moe,
Joshua was angry. Listening to Cynthia defending an outsider stirred his emotions. “So you care about
him that much.”
“Do you like him?” Joshua asked, unsure how the question had even slipped out of his mouth.
Cynthia thought he was being absurd. “None of your business.”
