Cynthia observed for a while longer before asking Sean for Joshua’s medical data. Sean complied
without hesitation. After a series of inspections, neither of them detected anything out of the ordinary.
As she prepared to leave, Cynthia, with Joshua on her mind, said to Sean, “Should you need any
assistance during the treatment process, feel free to reach out to me. I will handle it.”
“What about the financial aspect?” Sean queried.
“I’ll take care of it,” Cynthia assured him.
“Excellent. I appreciate forthrightness, Ms. Yates,” Sean responded, a satisfied smile crossing his face.
“Please don’t inform Joshua about this,” Cynthia requested, adding a final instruction.
If Joshua wanted no involvement with her, then he had no need to know of these arrangements. Once
he was better, they could simply resume their distant acquaintance, free of any disturbances.
Sean’s mind was already racing with the sound of clinking coins. He could practically see a mountain of
money waving at him. “No problem,” he assured her.
And one more thing,” she said.
“Please proceed, Ms. Yates.”
“Don’t think of exploiting Joshua for profit after he recovers,” Cynthia wamed, seeing right through his
intentions.
Sean was momentarily speechless.
Had he let his motives show on his face?
Cynthia saw his taken–aback expression and knew she had guessed correctly. Despite his wealth and
talent, Sean’s obsession with money was extraordinary. At times, she found herself wondering why he
had chosen to dig for gold instead of inheriting his family’s enormous fortune. Ultimately, it was not her
concern, and she decided not to dwell on it.
After leaving the base, Cynthia and Matthew went for lunch before heading to Arch International.
As they were going up in the elevator, Matthew offered Cynthia some reassurance. “Given Sean’s
response today, he seems to be quite confident in Joshua’s recovery. There’s no need for excessive
worry.”
“Alright,” Cynthia replied as the elevator came to a stop, and they both exited.
Cynthia proceeded to her office while Matthew went to his assistant’s office. This scene was not only
witnessed by the secretarial staff but also by Moe, who was discussing tasks with them.
arrival of the tall, handsome, and elegant Matthew was already the subject of gossip. With the frequent
appearance of the boss and new assistant, the gossip spread like wildfire.
“Is the boss dating the new assistant, Quier?” one of them wondered.
“I often see them together, and they seems quite close!” another chimed in.
“The boss and Mr. Quier make such a great couple! The domineering female boss and her little puppy.
“Puppy? Mr. Qaier is more like a big bad wolf.”
The office was buzzing with constant gossip.
Moe found it hard to describe his feelings. There was not a significant shift in emotions, yet there was
an odd sense of being left behind.
“Mr. Smith? Why aren’t you saying anything?” a member of the secretarial staff called.
“Don’t speculate about matters that haven’t been made public. Complete the tasks assigned to you
earlier and bring them to the boss for signing once they’re ready,” Moe responded, keeping his
personal feelings out of it.

“Okay,” everyone replied in unison.
As soon as Moe left, they resumed their gossip, only this time, it was about Mine and Cynthia. Moe
ignored them and, upon seeing Cyntina return, brought over all the contracts and documents that
required her signature. He took the opportunity to update her on the progress of the work
