own,” Mitchell replied, the corners of his lips twitching upwards as he spun a tale with a straight face.
Cynthia rolled her eyes.
She bid them farewell. None of their conversations was hidden from Mae. Moe knew some details, but
he was not the type to inquire or comment excessively.
“It was just a juke, don’t take it seriously. It’s getting late. Let’s go eat first, and then we can chat some
more,” Mitchell reassured, seeing the change in her expression.
