“Captain’s coming back.”
Cynthia perked up instantly, straightening in her seat. “Where did you get this news?”
“From Mitchell. He really didn’t tell you? I thought he was joking.” Jimmy revealed before spilling all the
news.
Cynthia could hardly remain calm. If Captain was coming back, could it be to settle scores with her?
“What’s the matter?” Jimmy asked, steering the car into the parking lot of his apartment complex.
Cynthia rubbed her temples, her heart still harboring a sliver of unease. “It’s nothing.”
She and Jimmy alighted from the car.
A little while later, after climbing the stairs and gulping down a glass of water to soothe her nerves, she
turned to Jimmy, who was now lounging on the sofa. “Did Mitchell tell you when Captain is coming

Cynthia gave a nod of approval, instructing him to send a message to Mitchell. She feared that if they

Jimmy turned to look at Cynthia instinctively. Had they been found out already?
Cynthia took his phone from him, remarking casually, “It’s difficult to fool those who know you well.”
