Dr. Smith did not stay for long. The moment he left, Larissa leaned over to snatch the bottle of medicine
away from Kevan. She waved to Lewis and called him over.
Lewis glanced at the angry Kevan, who was now as still as a statue. When he passed by the latter, he
walked faster.
The smell of the medicine grew stronger.
Lewis frowned in disgust. He wished he could plug his nose right now. “Hang on.” He drew two pieces
of tissue out of their box from the bedside table at the head of the bed. He wrapped the medicine bottle
with them before he held it in his hand.
The way Lewis was right now was a sharp contrast to Kevan from before. Larissa’s leelings grew
complicated. She thought about it before she said to Kevan, “Why don’t you go down and chat with the
other guests? I only need Lewis here.”
It was hard for Kevan to come here. Even if he did come for her, it was only beneficial for him to make
connections with all the influential business people downstairs in the living room.
However, to Kevan, this was Larissa trying to chase him away. His pride did not allow him to bow his
expensive head to beg her to allow him to stay. He simply lowered his gaze and nodded. Then, he
turned and left the bedroom without even looking at her.
Lewis kept staring at Kevan until the thick door blocked his gaze. “Mr. Rogers is angry,” he said calmly.
Larissa felt it too. She could not figure out why though.
To her, she was only doing it for his own good. She did not want his hands to be dirty from applying the
medicine for her. Getting him to go downstairs to socialize was just her trying to get him to expand his
network of connections.
“Tell me, what has he got to be angry about?” Larissa asked in confusion and annoyance after she had
explained her intent to Lewis.
Lewis pitied Kevan a bit. His cousin was slow. He bet that Mr. Rogers would have many more moments
of getting angry like he did today for the rest of his life.
“Next time remember to say such things directly to him,” Lewis advised her kindly. “And-” He suddenly
glared coldly at her. “You don’t want his hands to be dirty. So, you asked me to do this instead?”
Although Lewis could not stand the smell of the medicine, he still applied the medicine rather skillfully. It
was just that Larissa was wailing in pain for a while.
Gary heard about Larissa’s injury from Dr. Smith. He abandoned the guests downstairs and dragged
Mike with him upstairs.
“It’s all Rogers‘ fault Gary shouted angrily. “If it weren’t for him, this would not have happened today!”
Lewis had been “beaten” by Gary earlier, so he definitely did not wish to speak up for Kevan now. He
only massaged Larissa’s swollen
ankle.
Mike spoke up though. “It’s just an accident. Mr. Gary. Don’t blame Mr. Rogers, I’m sure he didn’t want
this to happen either.”
Betrayed by his favorite future son–in–law. Gary was shocked by this. He stared at Mike in complete
disbeliet, his eyes wide.
“Mike, you. His mouth was trembling but he could not say a single word.
Mike.
Realizing he said the wrong thing. Mike smiled. But he could not criticize Kevan with Gary as this was
not what he truly felt. So, turned to Larissa, who was sitting on the bed.
“Do you feel better now, Ms. Seymour?”
