“The person you like likes you too.” Kevan’s voice was faint and it carried a bit of reproach in it.
“Who the f uck likes Sharon?” Dylan blew up at once, and he slammed his glass on the low table. He
warned Kevan, “Don’t lucking make sh it up in your head”
But his gleaming eyes, as well as his flushed ears, proved that he was embarrassed.
“I can see it with my own eyes.” Kevan snorted lightly before suddenly becoming serious again. “You
can’t even tell me the truth?”
Dylan jolted. Kevan’s words made him will losing all the anger he had held previously. After he finished
a glass of whiskey, he seemed to have gained some courage while losing his own dignity at the same
time..
“It’s not that I can’t tell you the truth, I just haven’t figured myself out yet.” Dylan’s words were rather
sincere.
He did hate Sharon-he hated the way she played tricks on him. He hated the way she forced his former
lover away from him.
But this hate had become rather mild after many years of being together. What replaced it was a
strange, complicated feeling that he could not figure out. He only knew that he was angry, sad, and
afraid when Sharon misunderstood him. When Sharon talked about divorce, every inch of his body was
protesting the idea.
“Well, this is you liking that person,” Kevan concluded for him. Except that Dylan’s liking for Sharon had
been covered up by his habitual hate for her, so he could not figure things out.
Dylan silently drank his whiskey. His brain was now in a mess. To be exposed all of a sudden by
Kevan, he needed some time to process it all
“If you like her, then treat her better,” Kevan advised him. “Don’t hold onto that dumb bit of dignity and
regret it all later after your wife is
gone.”
“Like you?” Dylan eyed him with a teasing smile on his face.
“My situation is not the same as yours.” Kevan spoke confidently. “Larissa doesn’t like me.”
He had investigated her before and knew how cold and heartless she could be to the people who may
like her, but she did not like back. So, every step he took was very careful like he was stepping on ice.
He did not dare to show his true feelings because he was scared that the moment she knew about
them, she would distance herself from him without mercy.
“But the end result is the game. Dylan spoke the truth without giving Kevan any consideration.
Kevan glared at him and snapped. “Shut up!”
Dylan suddenly became alive and provoked him without any lear. “Didn’t you say that you wanted to
chat with me?”
Kevan began to regret it. He kicked at Dylan, shouting. “Go away then. Go now!”
Dylan nimbly avoided his attack, smiling smugly as he went against what Kevan wanted. “Nope. Mr.
Rogers, let’s keep chatting!”
Kevan could not be bothered to entertain him, and he just poured himsell another glass of whiskey.
“Seriously though, how are things with you and Larissa?” Dylan looked like he only wanted the gossip,
and he did not look serious at all.
Kevan’s face darkened, and he just drank his liquor.
Dylan knew that there was a problem at once. No wonder Kevan wanted him to come out and drink so
late at night. He leaned closer to Kevan and pounded his chest proudly. “Tell me what’s on your mind!
I’ll help you fix i
Kevan locked up at him for two seconds before looking away.
“Fix your own issues before you come and fix mine.”
“Hey! I don’t like it when you say that! What? So only you can meddle with my allairs, but I can’t worry
about you?”
Dylan sn atched Kevan’s glass away. “Stop pretending to be all sad and shill Hurry up and tell me, what
kinds of problems do you have with Larissa again? Did you say something that hurt her again?”
