Halting in her footsteps, Larissa turned her head with wide eyes, only to see the man she had lost
contact with for the whole night snoring on the sofa.
His coat was missing, his tie loosely hanging around his neck, and quite a few of his shirt buttons were
unbuttoned. His shirt was wide open, exposing his pecs
However, Larissa’s attention was drawn to the red lipstick mark on his neck.
Even though she knew that she had no right to hold him accountable or be jealous in any way, she
found that she was unable to move her feet. Her heart felt like it was being crushed by something, and
Larissa could not breathe, her mind completely blanking out.
The large sofa was small for Kevan, and he turned in discomfort, scaring Larissa as well as bringing
her back to reality.
It was late. She should not delay any longer.
Looking away, she hurriedly left through the door, which closed with a loud thump.
Kevan, who had been deeply asleep, slowly opened his eyes.
Once the New Year holidays ended, the number of guests checking in was immediately cut down by
half. Larissa did not have much to be busy over, but her heart still felt stifled from that kiss mark in the
morning. She deliberately stayed at the hotel for two more hours before reluctantly clocking out.
Kevan was no longer in the living room. But his leather shoes were still at the entrance hall, and his
cotton slippers were missing from the shoe cabinet, meaning he had not left the house for the whole
day.
The door to the study opened, and Larissa waited for two seconds before seeing Kevan emerge from it.
He was not wearing the suit from the morning but rather a set of deep blue checkered
pajamas.
Larissa could not help but move her gaze to his neck-the kiss mark was gone, but she still felt
moody.
“Have you eaten?” Kevan broke the silence between them.
Larissa nodded. “Yes.” She asked him in return, “You?”
“Not yet.” Kevan rubbed the sore bridge of his nose. I’ll be heading out after and won’t be coming back
tonight.”
Larissa was stunned for a short moment before she said, “Okay.”
Larissa hid in her room, listening as Kevan left. She did not know why she felt empty. To prevent herself
from having delusional thoughts, she started watching the teen drama series recommended endlessly
by the young girls in her department-but she could not take in even a single episode.

Tossing her phone aside, Larissa went to take a bath before pouring in some incense that helped with
sleep into her new incense machine. But she still ended up tossing and turning in bed for half the night.
Larissa found Kevan fast asleep on the sofa once again before she left.
There was no kiss mark this time, but he smelled so strongly of perfume. Her nose itched, and Larissa
could not stop herself from sneezing loudly.
She swiftly covered her mouth and was thankful that she did not wake Kevan. Having had experience
from the day before, Larissa was calmer this time. So much so that she even thought of bringing him
an extra blanket and adjusting the thermostat to a higher setting.
Larissa met Dylan when she got downstairs.
Elliot’s case would officially be on trial in the afternoon. Dylan reminded her, “Have you applied for
leave?”
“Yes, all good.” After the morning meeting, Larissa went to find the general manager to apply for leave.
Although Mr. Compton was a little displeased with this, he could not reject her application.
Dylan said, “I’ll pick you up at Regal Dynasty at noon. Mr. Sharpe will run you through the things that
you should do in court again”
Mr. Sharpe was the best lawyer specializing in criminal cases from Dylan’s law firm. He was assigned
to be Larissa’s representative attorney by Dylan this time.
