Kevan stayed quiet. He knew better than anyone how stubbom Larissa could be.
On top of that, it was not the best time to pursue her–his intention was just to test the waters and gauge
how open she was to the idea. As expected, she was still the same as before, unwilling to give him
even the slightest chance. She probably trusted him even less than before–after all, he had hurt her in
so many ways in the past.
His amnesia could barely allow him to be around her; il couldn’t bring her to let her guard down.
Although he had dug his own grave in the situation, he didn’t regret his choice. For her salety, nothing
else mattered.
The car soon pulled into the compound of Larissa’s residence. Kevan got out of the car first to pick up
Aster, who was still sleeping, from the backseat. Suspended in mid–air, Aster let out a groan of
discomfort as he opened his heavy eyelids.
In the dim light of the street lamps, he could barely make out Kevan’s lace.
“Daddy…” He smiled sweetly, murmuring solty as he reached out his arms to embrace Keyan’s neck.
Burying his head into his shoulder. he peacefully closed his eyes once again.
Although he spoke softly, it was loud enough for both Kevan and Larissa to hear in the silent night.
Kevan stole a glance al Larissa and noticed how she had frozen and tensed when it happened.
Instead of breaking the silence, he tumed around and headed to the stairs. Nothing he said would only
make the atmosphere less
awkward.
When Kevan placed Aster on the bed, a pair of arms wrapped tightly around his neck as soon as he let
go.
Frowning, Aster whined, “Daddy, don’t go
Kevan froze and he could sense Larissa’s troubled gaze landing on him. Meanwhile, Larissa’s mind
was in a mess.
Aster’s longing for his father made her heart ache.
She didn’t want to deny his wish, but doing so would undoubtedly have a significant impact on her life–
she was content with her current state and wouldn’t want it to change in any way. She didn’t know if
she ought to be a bit sellish or if she should sacrifice for her child.
Kevan turned around, his eyes asking Larissa what they ought to do.
Larissa approached them, trying to pry Asters grip open. Before she could exert any lorce, Aster
started crying out “Daddy! I’m scared! Daddy! Save me!”
He must be having a nightmare.
“Daddy’s here.” Kevan said, lifting him up and tenderly palling his back. “Don’t be afraid.”
His voice was soft and comforting, and Aster soor stopped crying, only sniffling occasionally, Larissa
fetched a tissue to wipe away the
tears from his face.
Til stay with him tonight,” Kevan said.
With Aster’s current state, Larissa couldn’t refuse.
“Alright sorry to trouble you.”
She glanced at Aster, who still refused to let go, and let out a silent sigh
Lanssa was at a crossroads in her life. She was tom between confusion and frustration. She needed
help and advice from others, but she didn’t want to conf de in Wendy–it wouldn’t take a genius to figure
out that Wendy would advise her to either be with Kevan or lirdanother man.
