The words Kevan said did not show much responsibility on his part. This made Larissa want to argue
back, but she felt she had no right to do so. After all, Bethany wasn’t her own daughter. So, why should
she be concerned? She remained silent after thinking about it.
…
The car was parked downstairs.
As Aster was sleeping soundly, Larissa couldn’t bear to wake him up. Instead, she asked Kevan in a
hushed voice. “Can you help me open the door?” She was holding Aster and couldn’t move her hands
easily.
Without a second thought, Kevan unbuckled his seatbelt and got out of the car. He opened the door,
leaned in hallway, and gently took Aster from her arms.
“He’s quite heavy. Let me carry him,” he said.
She hurriedly got out of the car. “No, it’s fine. I can handle him. You should go back and rest!” She
chased after Kevan, wanting to take Aster back.
However, Kevan wouldn’t let her. “It’s nothing.” He calmly stepped into the elevator, pressed the floor
number for her apartment, and said.” You’re Dylan’s friend, which means that you’re my friend too. As
friends, you don’t need to be so polite to me. Besides, I like Aster. Helping you out with such a small
task is no big deal.”
Being called a “Iriend” left Larissa speechless. How could he be so familiar with her? Where did his
aloofness go? She lound herself missing the cold and heartless Kevan of the past.
He took Aster to his bedroom and placed him on the bed.
She then asked him courteously, “Can I make you a cup of tea?
He readily agreed. “Sure!”
She immediately regretted her question and wanted to kick herself for asking. Nevertheless, she
managed to force a smile and said. “Okay, wait for me in the living room,” She then turned and left for
the kitchen, with Kevan following her.
She heard his footsteps and was surprised, “What’s up?”
“I wanted to see what kind of tea you have,” he replied calmly. Actually, he just wanted to be closer to
her.
“Oh, alright.” She didn’t suspect anything.
She took out all the tea leaves she had and placed them in front of him. “I have Jasmine, Earl Grey,
and Silver Needle. These are all new tea leaves, perks of our hotel. So, the quality is definitely good.
You can choose whatever you want.”
Kevan wasn’t particularly into tea; he loved coffee better and didn’t know much about the different tea
leaves. He picked one randomly and said, “This one.”
She gave a nod. “Okay, wait for me outside. ll be ready soon.”
