Chapter 1359 Only until the two directors perfected the proposal were they released from the torment o
f their boss.
The spacious office returned to dead silence once more while the sun shone through the window warml
y.
His frustrated expression
basked in the warm sunlight. He pulled his phone out and tried to call Sylvia, but he could not get throu
gh. He tried texting as well, but the message failed to send.
Bam!
He slammed the phone on the table
and then called Cliff using the desk phone. “Inform all the division directors to gather at the main meetin
g room in ten minutes! Tell them
to prepare reports for this week‘s progress. I want to know how things are progressing.”.
Judging from the tone, Cliff could tell his boss was having a sour mood again and was trying to vent his
emotions on the directors. He answered in a small voice, “Yes, sir. I‘ll inform them right away.” After the
call, Cliff messaged all the division directors.
One of the directors who was closer to Cliff privately messaged him. “Assistant Bogard, this meeting is
a little too rushed, isn‘t it? I just ran into Director Nickman from
the BD division and he was drenched! His shirt was soaked in his own sweat, and he was trying to clea
n up in the toilet. He told me Master Carter almost scared him to death. Is it because he‘s having a bad
day and wants to vent it on us?”
“He‘s just having a regular meeting. If you guys are doing your work properly, he won‘t do anything to y
ou,” Cliff answered.
In other words, those who slacked off would suffer the wrath of an angry Odell.
The regular weekly meeting lasted for almost three hours.
Odell berated almost half of the directors before ending the meeting. He sat in the main seat as he sca
nned over the other directors who were trembling.
“Dismissed.”
The directors sighed a long breath as though they were released from torment.
Odell strode back to his office. It was already 7 o‘clock in the evening, and the sky was already dark.
He put the documents down and picked up his coat.
Then, the new secretary knocked on the door and asked, ” Sir, do you want to order dinner?”
“No need.”
Odell went out with his coat hanging over his hand. He took the elevator straight to the basement
parking lot.
Most of the employees had gone home by this hour, so there was barely anyone in the parking lot. He
went to his car and then spotted a figure standing next to it.
Under the light, the young woman wore a plain coat coupled with a pair of leather boots. Her hair was ti
ed high up and her bangs framed the front of her forehead,
revealing a clean and delicate face. She wore a faint smile on her face, appearing rather sweet.
Odell was slightly surprised. “What is it?”
Shermaine switched her sweet expression to a worried one. “Sir, I heard from Assistant Bogard that yo
u fell sick in the past two days. Are you feeling better now?”
“I‘m feeling good,” he answered. Shermaine stood there and continued, “I heard you
scolded a lot of the directors at the meaning. Are you having a bad day?” “I’m feeling fine.”
“Is it because you argued with your wife again?”
Odell frowned. His expression turned grim and said deeply, “If there‘s nothing else, move aside.” He was
the mood for idle chatter.
Shermaine‘s eyes flickered nervously, and she quickly
stepped aside. Odell headed to the car and opened it. It was then that
he felt a grip around his waist as a pair of hands hugged him from the back.
It was Shermaine.
He froze and then furrowed his brows harder.
Shermaine said meekly, “You don‘t have to lie to me. I know you‘re feeling
down, and it must be terrible for you as of late.”
Odell‘s expression turned cold and grim.
She added, “I know you argued with your wife because you want to protect me. I‘m sorry, it‘s my fault. I s
transfer earlier, but I couldn‘t help myself. I don‘t want to leave you, and it hurts to see you this mad eve
