Chapter 1172 The entire time she had lived here previously, Sherry had never seen this lady before.
While Sherry was still sizing the intimidating lady up, she approached the side of the bed and
introduced herself formally, “Miss Sherry, my name is Emerence Foster.
I'm the housekeeper of this block and in charge of helping Marlow to oversee all ofyou.
You may address me as Aunt Emerence.
That’s what everyone calls me.”
Sherry nodded, “I see.
Is there anything else?” Emerence frowned deeply and the expression on her face immediately grew
more stern.
“Get off the bed right this moment and stand up! Nobody would ever remain seated when I speakto
them, let alone lying down!” Sherry wanted to get up, but she felt as if a strange force was holding her
to the bed.
She said with a casual smile, “I'm sorry about that.
I fell from a stairway some time ago, so my back and leg have not fully healed yet.
The doctor has advised me to lay down whenever I can.” Emerence immediately glared at her.
Sherry merely chuckled, "Go on, I'm listening." "Sherry, I don't care that you are the daughter of the
Fowlers and the sisterof the Master's wife.
You will have to obey my orders now that you are working as a housemaid! You better get up right this
moment,or else!" Sherry cocked an eyebrow challengingly, "Or else what? Are you going to hit me?"

Could you fire me?”
Emerence was completely speechless.
She was so infuriated that she could barely form a sentence.
She glared at Sherry harshly before turning to leave.
Having dismissed the threat, Sherry smiled and closed her eyes to take a nap.

However, she was not going to bend to their will and let them lord over her and make her slave away

If they had a problem with that, they could go ahead and fire her! Perhaps because the bed was too
comfortable ,combined with the fact that she had barely gotten any sleep the previous night, but she
quickly fell into a deep sleep after that.
Infuriated with Sherry , Emerence immediately went to Marlow to complain about her.
She told him about how Sherry had refused to get out of bed as well asthe fact that Sherry wanted to
be fired.
After her long rant, she adamantly insisted, "I can't handle her, let’s fire her!” Marlow sighed
exasperatedly, “It was the master whobrought her here, it's not my decision to make." Emerence was
taken aback by this, “I thought she came here voluntarily?" Marlow cautiously lowered his voice, "She's
the eldest daughter of the Fowlers.
Even though she does not get along with her family, do you think someone from her background would
willingly reduce herselfto the status of a house servant? That she would want to bow and be at the
service of others?" Emerence asked irritably, "Then what should we do? The master instructed me to
oversee her progress but there's no way I can do that when she refuses to even listen to me." Marlow
shook his head helplessly , "Let her be and just leave her alone.” "Then what will happen if she does
not perform well and the master faults us for this?" "We'll discuss it when the time comes.
For now, just leave her be." Marlow realized that he had to first figure out the precise nature of the
relationship between Sherry and John.
In the middle of their conversation , someone dressed in tailored, fine silk clothing approached them.
The other servants in the vicinity quickly drew back and bowed courteously , Marlow and Emerence
quicklytook notice and put on a swift smile as well.
Marlow greeted her with a smile , "Madam, what brings you here?” Shannon smiled pleasantly, “Uncle
Marlow,I'm here to see my sister.
Is she inside?”.
