Chapter 1416

After having been John’s assistant for so many years,

Peter was no idiot. He knew that Sherry wanted his contact to approach Caprice and that she would

follow him to the site.

Why didn’t he tell her about the schedule change?

If he did, he might as well have told her that he informed John about her asking for his contact and then

teamed up with John to trick her into going to the site on a snowy day. 1

Sherry was furious and annoyed. She stomped on the spot for a while before striding to where she had

gotten off earlier.

Due to the heavy snow, everything before her was white, and her footsteps were swiftly buried under

the snow. The whistling wind almost froze her to death, yet no vehicles appeared in her sight.

She was forced to return to the shed by the construction site. The shed had a heater while the two

security guards slacked inside.

When they saw Sherry at their door again, they stared at her in awe.

Sherry pointed at the electric scooters by the shed and asked with an awkward smile, “Hey, can I

borrow one of your scooters?”

Sherry had no idea how she made it through the snowy suburbs.

Not only her body but even her mind was also numbed by the freezing cold.

When she finally managed to ride back to a car-filled road, the scooter slipped.

Bang!

She fell on the ground wretchedly. She could not feel the pain due to the freezing cold. She simply

collapsed on the ground for a while until she regained part of her senses. Only then she tried to get

back on her feet.

It was then a familiar silver MPV stopped in front of her.

Sherry widened her eyes.

The door opened and a slender figure came out. Peter was also there holding a black umbrella over

the man’s head.

The man slightly lowered his head and stared at her with an evil gaze from his golden-framed glasses.

Sherry stopped trying to get up. She sat on the ground while wrapped in her red jacket. Her body and

her cap were covered in a layer of snow. Even her eyelashes and nose were white.

If she had not glared at him, John would have assumed that he was looking at a frozen statue. He

chuckled. ” Sherry, I thought you were capable when you left your child two years ago. What’s

happened to you now?”

Sherry moved her lips and spoke gruffly, “You prick! You bastard! You set me up!”

As though he wanted to see how badly she got frozen, John slightly bent over and stared at her frozen

cheeks. He smiled. “I set you up?”

Sherry glared at him and then at Peter with the umbrella.

Peter immediately turned away.

Sherry grunted. “Peter, just you wait!”

She was no match for John, but she could deal with the man’s assistant!

The moment her words subsided, her cheek was pinched. She gasped, not because of the pain, but

because of the sudden heat on her face. John’s hand was warm.

John smiled. “Sherry, why are you shouting at him?”

Sherry scoffed. “That’s because I dare not shout at you, so I’m venting my anger at him.”

John’s smile widened. “You’re quite smart.”

“I take that as a compliment. Please let go of me,” she said.

John narrowed his eyes and released her.

Sherry sat on the ground with her neck shrank into her jacket, her hands tightly held together. She had

a glance at the vehicle behind John.

If John came all the way here, could it mean that Caprice was also inside the car?

Before she could get a better look, the man blocked her sight with his slender legs.

Sherry looked up at him.
