up on her.”

Bartlett seemed unfazed. “Why not?”
Veronica glared at him. “Why not? She’s my sister–in–law! A married woman! How do you think it’s
appropriate to behave like that towards a married woman?”
Bartlett raised an eyebrow. “Married woman? Where’s her husband?”
“She…”
She was at a loss for words.
Her brother had been missing for three years, and his whereabouts were unknown.
