“Who said that? Am I not one?” Moran retorted with a touch of irritation.
Veronica blushed. “Enough, stop teasing me! I need to check what stunt Patricia is pulling now. I have
a feeling that she’s going to cause trouble.”
Moran merely nodded, keeping silent as he quietly kept Veronica company in their observation.
They noticed that Patricia was having a serious conversation with a man across the table, occasionally
gritting her teeth as if they were discussing something of importance.
The man, who appeared to be in his forties, kept nodding and bowing as he listened to Patricia. The
two clearly had an unequal master-servant
relationship.
About fifteen minutes later, the man across from Patricia stood up and left.
Left alone, Patricia took a few sips of her coffee and seemed lost in thought for a while before she, too,
departed.
After watching Patricia leave, Veronica wanted to follow her, but Moran stopped her.
“We’ll be noticed if we follow her like this.”
Restless, Veronica said, I want to see where she’s going. I need to know whether she’s going back to
the Howard family or meeting someone else.”
As an outsider, Moran was more rational. “She’s already left. It should be easy for your family to check
her whereabouts. Following her now could scare her off and do more harm than good.”
Upon reflection, Veronica realized Moran made a lot of sense. Following Patricia in broad daylight
would be too conspicuous and could easily spook her. Thinking this over, she immediately called Ida,
asking her to help investigate when Patricia left and what she had been doing recently.
Ida was also surprised to hear that Veronica had spotted Patricia, and as this matter concerned her
boss, she immediately agreed to investigate.
After hanging up the phone, Veronica was still filled with worries. She couldn’t stop fretting about one
thing after another.
Moran gently massaged her head. “Don’t worry, we’ve already got someone looking into it. Let’s just
wait for feedback.”
Veronica came back to her senses and looked up at her incredibly sweet boyfriend. “I’m sorry, Moran.
Have I delayed you from seeing the start of our movie again?”
Moran chuckled. “That’s okay. I can guess the ending without watching the beginning. Come on, we
should still be able to catch the second half if we go to the cinema now.”
Veronica nodded guiltily. “Okay, don’t worry, Moran. We’ll watch half today, and I’ll treat you to the rest
next time.”
Moran laughed. “Great, I’ll be looking forward to it!”
After this minor incident, the two of them chatted casually as they headed to the cinema.
Crescent Society.
After receiving Veronica’s call, Ida took a while to settle her nerves.
Like Veronica, she was worried that Patricia would cause trouble at this critical juncture, adding to her
boss’ problems.
Just after she had instructed her subordinates to investigate Patricia, Byran sauntered into her office.
“Ida!”
